![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yes, the DuPont corporation was instrumental in banning hemp. They were trying to get their fledgling synthetic fabrics industry going, and hemp was in the way. In the 30s up to when it was banned, hemp was a $1 billion industry. Can you imagine what it might be worth today? My parents were from Eastern Europe, my father told me they all grew hemp/pot on their farms. The oil from the seeds was used for cooking, the fibers from the stalks was used to make clothing and ropes, and the leaves and buds were fed to the pigs (you fed it to the pigs? Oh, wow). A pair of jeans made from hemp would last so long you could will them to your grandkids. Hemp fibers are the strongest natural fibers on planet earth. The oil from the seeds can be used not only for cooking, but as biodiesel fuel. During WWII the US Govt manufactured gasoline from hemp oil. You could use it to heat your home. There are literallty thousands of uses for hemp. Energy crisis my ass. You want a renewable energy source? Here ya go. Grows most anywhere. Both hemp and marijuana will continue to be outlawed, because they compete with big oil (naw, I don't need oil. I grow my own fuel, thanks), the fabrics industry, pulp and paper industry, and big pharma. They don't want us using pot, hell - we'd have no use for most of the poisons they are trying to peddle. Increasing evidence of marijuana's medical benefits must make them shit themselves. There are many powerful financial interests aligned against hemp and marijuana. They are stupid though - wouldn't it make more sense to embrace it than fight it? It would change our world. | ||
