From Gulflive.com Saturday, August 29, 2009 By CHERIE WARD Following an arrest for drug and firearm possession, an Alabama man told a Jackson County (Mississippi) deputy "God gave us marijuana to smoke, so why shouldn't we?" authorities said Friday. Sheriff Mike Byrd said Benjamin Crandle, of 14650 Forts Lake Road, Grand Bay, Ala., was stopped at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday during a traffic check at the intersection of Forts Lake Road and Old Glory Road in Orange Grove, MS. "The deputy noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the open driver window," Byrd said. "He said he didn't have any marijuana in the vehicle, and he had smoked it earlier that day." While searching the 55-year-old man, the deputy found two sandwich bags containing marijuana hidden in Crandle's pants. "It was only about an ounce," Byrd said. "He also had a loaded Smith and Wesson .38-caliber revolver concealed between the front seats," Byrd said. Crandle said he bought the drug in Moss Point and smoked it to calm his nerves, Byrd said. "Even if you use marijuana for medicinal purposes, you can go to jail," Byrd warned. "It's illegal in the state of Mississippi, and we're going to keep fighting the drug problem in Jackson County. That includes people like Mr. Crandle, who claim it's for medical use." | ||

| Hommmmmmee GGGROOOWWWWNNN in alabamaaaa.....I got four hundred and 20 pounds of weeeddd... Screw that cop. How can he say what or isnt medicine? I know pot helps me with a hell of a lot more than anything I can legally purchase....Without all the side effects. lol | ||
