That was the trial town

Perhaps they should raise the smoking age? They want to bitch about crime and stuff like that, Im sure most of that can be blamed on the 18/19 year old idiots who go over there looking to roll blunts of super dope dro yo.

But really, Ive never seen any 20/30/40 year olds causing trouble in a coffeeshop. Bar maybe, not coffeshop.

They bitch and moan about the crimeinality of the drug trade but give the criminals all the tools they need too make money out of it.

Remove the laws against cultivation, remove laws gainst personal use for less than a pound, and the criminals will have less to fight with.

If they decide stay in a legitamate busness good for them.

Only by total legalization can we truely remove the criminal elements from out passtime.

Yeah, I'm not going back there if I can't smoke weed... that would be like going to the 'Mustang Ranch' and sticking your nose down there and getting a whiff... but not jumpin up on it... just can't do it.
Yea, they'll loose what 90% of their tourism? That business that will be lost by hotels, resturaunts, and even thier little "car towing" raquet will take a huge it. I know they're making money on that gig... I've been to the wharehouse where they keep the towed vehicles... it's like a city block or something.. at $300 a pop, 20 years ago.
What are they going to do when all that income is lost? Change the law? My Dutch buddy told me that this gov't will be voted out and a more 'liberal' one voted in.

While I am opposed to the idea of them making it criminal again, I think I need to play devil's advocate for awhile.

The Dutch have been putting up with "weed tourists" for quite some time now. Generally young people, with little money, who come to the big A (or other places in the country) for the sole purpose of getting as baked as possible. They loiter in the streets, piss in the alleys, and generally act stoned and rowdy at all hours of the day. They do not generate a great deal of tourist dollars since a) they are stoned all the time and b) all their money is spent on weed and d) since it is technically still criminal the Dutch gov't does not make any money when weed is sold in a coffee house.

IOW - part of the social experiment is not working out quite the way the Dutch people thought it would, and being fairly reasonable people they are looking for solutions.

I don't think shutting down the coffee houses is the right solution but I think I understand their concern. If the tourists are not being respectful of the country, then something should be done.

Peace.

Higher security for the shops. Raise the age like I said earlier. The problem is these people are too immature, and it shows when they smoke weed theyve never expierienced before.

What will they do with the cannabis cup? About everyone there except the people who entered are from different parts of the world. That probably makes millions in the end every year.

I just hate when everyone gets punished for one persons mistake. That shit always pissed me off.

In that case a simple raising of the age resellers can sell too, instead of a blanket ban on otherwise cashed up, respectable tourists.

I was thinking of using holland as a steping stone to europe, if only to partake in the local coffie shops. get a room in a nice hotel and generaly pump money into the local economy.

Im just as disapointed in our own state government.

labor(state political party) brought in laws that effectively decriminalized marijuana, possesion of up too 28g, 2 plants is the equivilant to $100 fine, called a canabis infringment notice, 3 fines and you are deffered to a drug rehabilitation course.

I admit its a sweet deal though there are no pot clubs.

Now the liberal/national goverment is in power they are talking about repealing the laws, the state government is spaming the tv and radio with "infomercials" pure and blatent lies being told on local radio, "the force" local COPS knockoff busting people for dope and having the "officer" state how pot destroys lives and families.

local newspaper opinion pieces on the fact the government is too soft on drugs, stating the laws have failed, at what I don't know as the figures he states over 2000 people did not get a criminal conviction recorded against there names, that there is proof that they are working just as intended..

The propaganda wars are already raging, there will be no winners in this war, Maybe its time to move to Canada.

Hey

P.S sorry for the rant

That sounds a hell of lot like New Orleans, and that place can't be closed down by man or god!!
