Whew! for a second there, I thought "the apparent organized nature of the cannabis cultivation sites" meant .com sites like GC.

I thought they had tracked him via online or something!! Of course, being dupage county, they will throw resources at this. Hopefully he was one guy, and they won't try to tie it to al-quaeda or anything. Of course, also due to Dupage county, they will try to give him a life sentence.
Using public land around there to grow is stoopid......tons of people use just a few forest preserves, and there are few places that don't have a footpath nearby.

In the article it said that they searched his van (which was parked at the forest preserve) and discovered evidence of another grow. If I had to guess I'd say he probably had some sort of written record or something of that nature. Seems like a rookie move to me... to be carrying around a bunch of evidence like that in your car (especially when heading to one of the grow locations).

.......given its dupage county- i know a guy who got busted there- they probably found a map or gas receipt to this gas station in the middle of lots of preserves, and told him if he gave up the other sites, he'd only get a few years. If not, he'd get life. That's how they do it there.

Of course, as much as I hate the guerrilla growers in the preserves, he either had sites marked in a journal, which is stupid, or told them they were his, which is worse. The fact they were set up the same is nothing- only so many ways to rig a drip irrigation line.

He probably told them, after they leaned on him awhile.
