Thought id post this article from the local paper, for the rest of you to NOT enjoy as well. VERY large crop busted about a half hour from here. Im rather disgusted with this whole thing in a number of ways. Feel free to read on... --AUthorities from both state and federal agencies finished clearing a large marijuana growth operation in ******** on Friday evening. Now the investigation focuses on the people responsible for this operation. According to *** ******** of DEA a total of 2,943 plants were found growing in this remote area. In talking to ******** about the plants he said, "They were very well cultivated. THey were at the point of harvesting given the weather and the season change." When asked for a time frame regarding this particular operation ******** said, "This outdoor grow has been going all summer." When asked if he had any idea as to the number of individuals that were involved he replied, "Not at this point. Nothing that we are disclosing." ******** stated that there were three outbuilding on the property. "There were what appeared to be living quarters. Two of the three buildings were burned to the ground. That happened at the point that law enforcements became aware fo the outbuildings. DEA, Customs, and Border Protection, and the Warden Service went out there to investigate the tip thta there was growing taking place. The parties that were in there responsible learned of that and it appears that they set fire to the outbuildings." When asked about the street value of the plants found ******** said, "We estimate on average on pound per plant. These plantes were so well cultivated that they may garner more than one pound per plant. May been upwards of 1.5 - 2 pounds. FOr each pound, were estimating, because of the quality of the cultivated marijuana, anywhere around $2500 per pound." The article continues for about the same length that is already here. It boasts well for the law enforcements officials and tips that made the bust possible. Stuff like this sucks!! Number one, it brings for more state and federal money being put into search and seizures of grow operations. (which in turn is going to lead to alot of small time home growers like us getting nailed in the process) Second, because idiots like this that choose to cultivate nearly 3000 plants at a time with monetary values into the millions make all MJ gardeners look like criminal drug lords! There has only been one grow this big here in the state ever recorded. That one was 4,200 plants. I cannot see the reason for this other than pure greed! Why grow any more than you need to sustain yourself for the year? If everyone did and thought that way than we all wouldnt look like money hungry drug pushers! Guess there isnt much to be done but hope taht they dont put more money and time into the skies next year, but i dont doubt that they will. This means more risk for us little people, and a worse perspective of us if we ever should be caught for growing our own. C`mon people... Lets keep theses fields down. There isnt any need for any one person to grow 1000`s of these things. No matter how beautiful they are to cultivate..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I suppose if you need to get from harvest to that same point next year without any indoor growing it might be a reasonable grow.. but.. 3000 in one place the size of a football feild?? Not really necessary, unless you are growing for the money involved in the finished product. I plan on around 100 this coming year.. but spread out in 3 different spots, and they are going to be little 1OZ yeilding autos. I just want to get from fall harvest to next fall without having to run lights indoors if possible. I just cant afford to buy the stuff streetside if i dont have to. Bills and family are the priority nowadays. I guess my gripe with it was that by planting 3000 MJ plants like that into one huge operation they make it appear that all the people that grow the stuff are in it for the same purpose... money.. which often isnt the case with farmers like us.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nice to see someone from my home state in the garden. I read the article too and almost shed a tear. A sad sad day for sure but that's what happens when someone gets too greedy.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The upside might be that grows like this one keeps thier attention and keeps it off of us small guys with a dozen or two plants. I say if they want to take the risk...letem ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That did also occur to me CRAZYTRAIN. I figure they are probably well over quota for the year and are less likely to be on the watch for more now. Unless its news they received of other large grows. I think it might keep the eyes away from me this season. I was just concerned that they may find more funding for this type of thing next year by pushing the idea that its more needed in the area than it already is. Your right.. its somone elses ass not mine. I just hate to see it cause a trickle down affect for the small time people that are just doing it for themselves ya know.
