![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have seen small bits in the News recently about the Debate over legalizing Medical Marijuana in Ohio heating up. Medical marijuana advocates' hope renewed | Metro - cleveland.com - cleveland.com Is Ohio still just DEBATING the issues, or are there actually issues that made it to the ballot this November? I have been searching the net, and I only see 3 issues on the ballot this year (casinos, livestock, & veterans) is there something I'm missing? Im reading recent articles about the hope of MMJ in Ohio, but not sure what all this means. Is there anything on the ballots for Ohio this election (2009) concerning Marijuana?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yup, if I have to move from this apartment before my jump to Alaska I'm going to ohio. Get busted with weed? Less than 100 g minor misdemeanor*** none $100 get caught growing? Less than 100 g minor misdemeanor*** none $100 ***A minor misdemeanor does not create a criminal record in Ohio Possession of less than 100 grams of marijuana is a citable offense only, with a fine of $100. Possession of 100 grams or more is punishable by a fine of up to $250. For possession of 200 grams or more, the penalty increases to a possible sentence of 6 months - one year in jail. Possession of 1,000 grams or more is punishable by 1 - 5 years in prison. Any possession of less than 5,000 grams does not carry the presumption of prison, which leaves available the possibility of probation. Possession of 5,000 grams of marijuana or more is punishable by 1 - 5 years in prison. For any amount or 20,000 grams or more the penalty increases to a mandatory minimum sentence of eight years in prison. Round here, 100 grams = big deal!! DEA will likely be informed. People have done time on 100 Grams. I look for it to keep eroding away at MJ laws- if it is so light a punishment, people must not think it's all that bad.

Nothing on the ballot, the resolution has gotten stalled in committee last I heard. here is a quick cut & paste from Mpp.org : Last update: April 9, 2009 Medical professionals testify in favor of Ohio medical marijuana bill On November 19, 2008, the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee on Criminal Justice heard testimony from a doctor and two nurses in support of S.B. 343, the Ohio Compassionate Use Act. This compassionate legislation would allow patients and their caregivers to possess and grow marijuana to treat the patients' serious illnesses. Although medical marijuana bills have been introduced in the past, this was the first time in recent memory that one has received a hearing with supportive medical professionals. Please take a moment now to contact your state senator and urge him or her to support S.B. 343. Communication with constituents is one of the most decisive factors for legislators when considering an issue. It is particularly important that the members of the committee hear from their constituents. You can find the committee members here, and you can look up your state senator here. If your senator is a member of the committee, please take a moment to call his or her office and to politely and succinctly express your support for S.B. 343. Medical marijuana patients and activists have been lobbying their legislators tirelessly in support of this bill. While the hearing today is an important step forward, it's imperative that legislators learn that there is widespread support for medical marijuana legislation. This hearing comes on the heels of Michigan voters making their state the first in the Midwest to allow the medical use of marijuana. Sixty-three percent of Michigan voters approved the medical marijuana initiative, including majorities in all 83 counties. There is no excuse for this state to continue to label the seriously ill as criminals for relieving suffering. Please raise your voice to ask your legislators to alleviate the suffering of many Ohio patients suffering from cancer, AIDS, and other debilitating conditions. Please also pass this message along to friends, family, neighbors, and e-mail lists so that others can stand up for Ohio's most vulnerable residents. Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. To stay updated on the status of marijuana policy reform in Ohio, be sure to subscribe to MPP's free alert service.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is one of the MOST disturbing things I read in this article... Bruce Mirken, spokesman for the group, said activists in Ohio were not ready to enlist the organization's help. "The last time I heard, and this was awhile ago, there seemed to be some infighting among local activists," Mirken said. COME ON PEOPLE! Are we NOT all here for the same reason? THIS IS TERRIBLE! AND EMBARRASING to say the least! I HOPE ITS NOT TRUE? After visiting the Global Marijuana March in Cleveland last year, I can understand now why it was so unorganized, and lacked SOOOO much important info! It was headed by the President of the Ohio Cannabis Society, and it was ALL about HER? She paraded around in a sexy lil outfit, smoking marijuana, Chanting " The only way to make us leave it to bust our Ass and take our weed"! Sexy costume- All for it, get some attention. Smoking Marijuana- GREAT. Its not everyday you get the chance to spark up and be escorted through the city streets by police in uniform. The Chant- WTF? You can't come up with anything better to say? You get your attention, you get the freedom to puff on the magic herb, everybody's watching- AND YOU CAN'T THINK OF 1 EDUCATIONAL THING TO SAY? (Just as embarrassing as this article) It's boggled my mind since May... If the President of the Ohio Cannabis Society can't think of anything smart or informative to say, WHY didnt she have someone with some sense show up and speak? NOW I SEE... Everybody's to busy bickering, and getting high! WHAT A SAD SAD THING! Happy Healing, JointGirl

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Welcome to the problem that is only getting larger and larger. It's always been here really. The movement has come together more in the past decade than in decades. I think we are more on the same page now than ever before though. You are always going to have that. Just comes with it.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Personality clashes are nothing new and nothing to be concerned over. I am surprised how many pro legalization groups are out there. It is a shame we can't bring them all together to put real weight behind our legislation(s), rallies, and the legalization cause in general.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think it's like PETA shouting out for protection of nematode worms, or something- as long as they get in the news it's all good. I think they need to back away from smoking so much, as well. For a doctor it's a hard call to "prescribe" something that has different potency and delivery methods. When you see other medications, its always "take 2 by mouth" or "rub on area" not "smoke till you think you're ok" If they could focus on the Med uses, and push a pill/ointment of a specific dose they'd have more Drs. lined up, IMO. I think the Smoke - out type of protests do more harm than good. (other than recognition)...the average person sees a bunch of stoners who want to get high. The penalty for possession is already low as hell in Ohio. But it ain't gonna get any lower by marching around shouting weird chants.
