There are none in MA that I know of, but there are two right over the MA/NH border in Seabrook on Rte 1. One's called "Smoke Ring" I think. It's small and sketchy. It's also intermittently staffed - the last two times I went, I had to ring a bell and wait for some skank chick to come down from upstairs to open up the shop. Going north it's on the right just before the Home Depot/Walmart.

The other one is about a mile further up the road on the left in a shopping center with a big adult video store called "Leather and Lace". I forget the name of the place ("Up in Smoke" maybe?) I think the smoke shop and the vid store are owned by the same people because you can walk from one to the other without going outside. They are much bigger and have a better selection of bowls/bongs, hookahs, scales, etc. They have a lot of glass pieces. The prices are outrageous but with little competition and the risk of selling grey market merchandise it's hard to complain. Talk about dope and you'll get thrown out on your butt by a scary looking skinhead guy. If you get off 95 at the seabrook exit go left up Rte 1 north and it's the first shopping plaza on the left.

I used to live right near here so if you go, make sure your vehicle is in perfect working order and with all registrations inspections, and don't bring any weed with you just to be safe. Don't speed, use your directional, don't dress like a rasta, etc. Seabrook cops are pricks and have been known to follow people from the video store and head shop looking for any excuse to pull them over. Local LEO love to collar kids who go to Hampton Beach to party. The store has been raided at least once but they've never shut it down.

Leavitt & Peirce in Harvard Square cambridge carries papers and "rolling accessories" but no bongs, bowls, or scales. I bought a nifty rolling machine there a couple of years ago. The guys in there are pretty nice and it's a cool store otherwise - lots of "guy" stuff - ornate chess boards, pipes, dominos, cribbage boards, lighters, etc. Definitely mainstream - no stoner stuff but a lot of interesting gear.

You'll get better pricing if you use mail order head shops, but if you absolutely must see the merchandise these are the only places I know of in the area.

i went back and looked at that post and it really is overkill. I coulda just said the same thing in probably 20 words, but what the hell...

I only know all that detail because I used to have a house on the beach right near there and would go by all the time to visit friends and go shopping.

BTW - the video store is VERY sketchy. There are some nasty girls that lurk around in their lingerie and will "hang out" with you if you pay them (read=hookers). It's also a notorious gay/swinger hookup place. I never dared to venture out back into the booths, but I'm told it's a veritable f*ck-fest. Eeewww!!!

Just curious - what does this have to do with News? Isn't this a better Tiki topic or something for the MJ.com boards?
