this thread has been most informative. i will be submitting my vote! -----caution----[i bought two florex at walmart at the same time. both of them have stopped working within 30 days. they just wont light the bulbs anymore]-- im a pretty skilled fixit kind of guy, and ive tried and tried....... ill stick with my compacts. latr, J D.

ps. warranty is void cause i had to make "adjustments" for hanging [modifying the light voids warranty] -also when removing the lights from the box, the handles fell off at the weld site, BOTH OF THEM !! [didnt matter cause thats exactly where i would have removed them from, anyway].

i started my babied with 400W of Flo's. they were doing wonderful until I bought my 400 HPS, now these suckers are growing like mad !!

Very nice work on the chart you found, its alot of info. I am sticking with the HPS for veg and flower only because they are showing some really really good growth off of it. I still have the Flo's right on em as well, so they kinda get both spectrums, although not as well as if it were a HD and HPS on em. Im very happy with the $140 i spent on my light, and reccomend anyone serious about there grow to go to HID !!

Keep up the growing and plant the world !!

i got 2 400wt-mh now what i need two know is how much lumans does one of these baby put off?
i got them both in 1 box but im thinking about building another 1 .
box size is 3''x4'' my highth deppens on the size of the plant, this box is the 1 that has 2 in it.
if i can get by with building another 1 i would make the 1 i allredy have smaller or better yet both the same size.
each box wood have 1-400wt-mh,1-100wt-hps,1-18gallon-dwc,and all the other stuff that goes with it.
any help on box size or lumans would help alot.

Depending on what kind of MH lamp you have, it can put out anywhere from 31000-40000 lumens. I wouldn't suggest putting both lights in the one box, unless you've got some really good ventilation, or want to bake your plants. Also, there's the increased threat of bleaching your plants with too much light. I learned that putting your plants 5 inches away from a 400 wt MH and draping mylar around the reflector, and taping it to the pots ur plants are in does wonders for bleaching most of the chlorophyl out of your plants. Remember, it's better to have less than adequate light and have your plants grow spindly than too have too much light, and have your plants turn pale yellow/white and stop growing. Your box size is good though. Try to have1-1.5 square feet per plant.
