![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Powercow9: Thanks for understanding. I called the lighting store & they don't have a par meter so I'll have to leave that up to someone else. Thanks Grow Bro. 86.

Yeah like I said there are better alternatives to PAR. Like LAI-PAR or YPF-PAR (i think that was it) it calculates based on plant efficency at the diffent spectrums. Like the plant uses blue light at a 80 percent efficency (it reflect 20 pecent blue light) where as plants use green lights to a 5% efficency. so you would multiply the efficiency of the plant times the par of the light at that kelvin..effectivly removing most of the green and yellow from the light lumen calc. Lumens work cuase there is a direct relationship between lumens and pars but that doesnt mean that lumens arent wrong. IE you can kinda tell how much money someone has by the car they drive.. nicer car.. more money.. but this is just a rule of thumb it can be wrong..it's much more beneficial to look in their wallet. another test i would like to try.. would be to line your reflectors glass with Ggreenhouse PAR film... it is supposed to diffuse the light with respect to PAR. without hurting the total transmisssion of light... it is used in green houses all over the world. Supposedly at least in the legal plant world diffused light is way better than direct light. ( i'm going to test this when time and money provides)

you can get a crappy one for About $200us. at http://www.growlights.com/ but we would still need to know the envirolight multiplier.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() LED"S used by nasa have an almost perfect par rating.. dont get hot because the plants are asorbing all the photons.I want one really bad unfortunately I dont have nasa's budget.. these babies are about $30,000 apiece. These lights also have crap for lumens but grow plants better than the best hps. The have about 30 lumens. YEP 30! check them out here: http://www.quantumdev.com/LED_Produc...snap-lite.html and here http://216.239.39.100/search?q=cache...n&ie=UTF-8</a> yeah you want to learn some fringe plant techniques and some arcaic growing info.. nasa is the place to go..as interplantary travel will require us growing our own food.. and you want to limit the power consumtion.. heat...and you want the plants to grow as effienctly as possible. NASA is a great source of horticulture info. update... why cant i post images??

I've got a question for everybody. There are 2 main things that happen to light when growing outdoors to bring on flowering. 1, The days get shorter because the sun stays lower in the sky so the plants get less light. 2, Because the sun stays lower in the sky the light has to pass thru more of the atmosphere. Because of this the light spectrum changes from predominantly blue spectrum to predominantly red spectrum. So here is my question: Does less amount of total lumen hours bring on flowering or is it the red color spectrum that brings on flowering. If it's the color spectrum changing & not less light in lumen hours, then what would happen if you left a predominantly red spectrum light like my red EVLs on 24/0? Later. 86.
