Yeah the device from li-cor looks cool but looks beyond my pocket book. Concidering how much quantums costs and it looks like something you get at walmart. I'll bet the li-250 is abot $500. OF course the 6400 would be nice too.

With all this talk about florex I finally went to home depot and checked it out. And I can tell you this, the FLX is no where near the size of a EVL. And the EVL is a whole lot brighter, even more so when both lights dont have reflectors behind them.

Sorry FLX peeps, but when it comes to EVL vs FLX, EVL wins hands down.

No-no..what I meant was that the Fluorex may have a similar spectrum...maybe more in the blue tho. The reason I made that statement was because I asked Delta to measure the spectrum for me. Although he didnt give numbers...he did say it hit across the whole spectrum.

Haha..I always seem to be playing the devils advocate. One of the few negatives I see in the Evl is its price. They are no doubt brighter than a fluorex..they have over two thousand more lumens! But...oh-oh..here we go

..if you put price in the equation then you must put three fluorex to one Envirolite. When this is done it is a far different equation. Then you have the EVL at 8900 lumens opposed to 20475!!

Listen Mist..I love compact fluro technology....I am just wondering if the envirolite isn't alittle overpriced? I hope you see where I'm coming from!?

They seem to work fine. Tight spacing, not alot of heat with the lense off. I have 2 of them in a 3 sq ft. space (2' X 1.5'). In week 5 of vegging. Plan to veg with them then move them outside to flower.

If one has a very small space, then the fluorex would work well (in my opinion). If you have the dough & space for an EVL, then an EVL would be best. If you have room, ventilation, & dough for an HID, then I'd go with that.

IMHO, there is not a one size fits all. Mist has shown very nice results with the EVL. I plan to use it when I build out my next space (alittle larger than now).

lol, I know zoomy, I also end up playing devil advocate from time to time.

But, I have a real hard time getting behind the whole "price" thing. I mean, in these times of over priced weed, (way over priced IMHO) and the amount of weed I like to smoke (4-7 fattie joints a day) the $100 approx. cost of an EVL is well worth the duckets.

Here's a true life story for ya. A commercial grower friend of mine grew 12 plants, 4-5 feet tall with just a MH. He got barly 5 z's of loose buds from his whole garden. I grew with just a Full Spectrum EVL and got almost 2 z's of HARD dense nugs from 2 plants barly 2 feet tall.

Now, guess who just got 2 FS EVL's delivered by UPS on monday to suppliment his MH?

You can't really divorce price from the equation. It may be the lowest priority, but not for everyone.

There isn't a one size fits all.

Ummm....was he using a 175 MH bulb in a 6x4 room?

MH has SUCH potential, the only reason I could see your
friend getting lousy harvest is there had to be other issues, or
the light was insufficient. You can't just toss out a comment
like that without at least letting us know what kind of a light
they used, wattage, conditions...genetics, is he a seasoned
gardener or also a newbie?

Just, I saw that and thought *incomplete sentences like
that could cause a newbie some confusion...*

I was thinking of the Enviro for my Momma plants, but D says
that I can just stick with my fluoro's....go figger!

Ok, choader, I know there is not a "one size fits all" light. I was just saying from my point of view, in my situation, the benifits outway the cost.

TCC, 1000 (one thousand) watt in a 10X10 foot room. He is growing in soil, organic, ya know with worm casting and all that stuff. Thats about all I now.....oh, and he kept putting bowls of water in there to keep the RH high even after I told him 20 times high RH only helps during veg to get females. Then, low RH is best for bud development.

and your friend was growing with a 1000w mh??? and you had a compact fluoro???

methinks mist 420 is an evl salesman...
