![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Jeez I was just trying to make a point about lumens. The lights are $35,000 a piece.. hardly economic for the home grower.(and yes they have about 30 lumens) I dont work for NASA but the mars project and biospere are great resources of information for plant growth. because with them it is not a hobby it is a matter of life and death. Their goal is to maximize edible biomass with a minimal of energy and grow space. Same as us but we want smokable biomass. If you really want the lights contact quantum development. I'd love to see how the plants turn out. update: sorry get a little touchy without my coffee. They are getting cheaper though as the company wants to comercialize them for plant growth and cancer research. info and pics http://mix.msfc.nasa.gov/ABSTRACTS/MSFC-9709986.html

no I know the bought them hoping to sell them to the enemy as grow lights then they would all die from starvation.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Micro-Einsteins is the old measurement term for PAR.. they recently changed it to mols. but I didnt realize that on halogens.. I find it hard to believe that a light would be come that much more ineffiecent with more watts. (i]ve pesonally seen plants grown under halogens and it wasnt a pretty site.. maybe these 20 watter would work. Perhaps at lower wattage halogen burns at a different color. I'd like to see the links on the research and not just the links to the people selling this halogen plant chamber. That site also says a 100w incandecient is better than a 250w hps.. now I refuse to believe that.. even if you got the scientist who did the research himself come to my door and tell me so.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I dont claim to know everything either. It was a definately interesting and educational read. Although it's hard to believe and I still dont, it might just be true ![]()

an HID does not penetrate "more" than a fluoro!! I wish people would stop saying that!!!!!! Light is light. It decays using an inverse square function. Period. End of story. An HID & a fluoro, putting out the same lumens, will decay EXCATLY the same. This is an important point. Don't forget it. Physics is Physics. In fact, you can make an argument for fluoros if you consider the distance from the plant. Given that light decays in an inverse square manner, a 45K lumen light 2 ft. away from the plant provides the same light as an 11.25K light 1 ft away. Do the math. Hope this helps. Choader ![]()

| that's a pretty good point, choader. people get confused by that a lot. also, a lot of people really miss a prime advantage to growing under tube floros...because the light is not from a point source, but from a distributed source, it will cover the plant much better. as in canopy penetration. now if only we could get a 60k lumen floro tube ![]() | ||
