rpo,

Yes the hurricane glass has an opening on both ends. to connect to the 4" ducting I used a 5 to 4 inch reducer. I installed the mogul base to it and then slid the glass in , built up the spaces with foil and used foil tape to secure it all together. I hung mine up with chains.

as well as using the allio tape, use them metal zip lock ties u get for your garden hose. they will securily hold the reducer on there. u may want to think about using rubber or vinal glue between the glass and the reducer because u might zip it us and damage the glass.

How do/did you attach the reflector?
permalink

Do you have the bulb just sitting vertically in the middle of the plants? Or do you have a vertical reflector just as normal sitting on top of the light? I was thinking what if you couldattach the reflector to the glass? kinda just like a sheet of paper were sitting ontop of the glass globe? You could even bend it over the end of the tube, not covering it of course, but just to get the light aiming down. Anyone seen those bulbs with the internal reflectors? What about like putting aluminum tape on the inside of the glass to be sort of like a self reflector? then you could just put the tube anywhere and not worry about externel reflectors. I would of course put like a little "V" shaped piece on the inside top so the light wouldn't aim right back through the arc tube. see picture. I think I'm gonna try something like this... Ocelaris

I use a piece of alum foil, you can form it and set it on top of the glass. Seems to work ok.

this is a great trend , i have a grow box and the cool tube is a great i dear for any grow box or some1 with room to put the p[lants in a circle around the light . im a big fan of vertical lighting or lights without the hood. to me any hood or refelector just adds more heat and reduces the light strenth, and life.
cool tube - no refelector= lots of bud
