Heya all -   Anyone growing indoors has at sometime had heat problems and looked into ways of decreasing the temperature in order to improve every other aspect of their growing enviroment. - I know i have .. And i still do have heat problems So i decided to make a thread where Members can post their DIY or Bought Kool-Tube Designs or Air-Cooled Hoods or any other Drastic Temperature reducing equipment... Im interested in making either an Aircooled Hood or Kool-Tube to take 90% of the heat away before its made from the bulb... Alot of members on OG have made their own designs - and posted in threads to share with other members .. So i figure why dont we do the same and help each other out  So anyone with AirCooled Hoods, KoolTubes or any other modified Hood design to minimise heat throw in some input!! (Even people with pics of these that arent theirs!!) *(Mods - I posted this in the Indoor section because its half Contruction and half Lighting ..)* | ||

| In use (Soz bout the link on tha pic mods .. I couldnt get rid of it..) *Note - Lights are kept so cool by the constant independant airflow that there is even a cord right next to the bulb!! | ||

| ..how blody good dose that look!, im gonna have to do that one ! where did u find the pyrex clynder? dose it effect much light leaving the globe?

 | Great thread, although I would have put it in the lighting forum. That is an ingenious design! I am going to need to go with air cooled hoods this summer, so I need all the ideas I can handle. | ||

| Looks good, I would like to do something similar myself, just one passing thought though, is the effect of the glass round the bulb on the spectrum etc negligible enough to not worry about or will the extra glass stop some of the spectrum as we know window glass stops some of the sunlight? Just a thought DeK

| I was asking my hydro supplier about air cooled shades and he said that about 20% of light is lost through the glass and a higher percentage is lost with water cooled lights don't know how much truth is in this but it put me off buying one.

what is the part # of the base and can you get those from a commercial supplier or do have to get them at a hydro store? Currently i only have one light and ballast and i would like to experment with different refelector designs or using one like you have shown . i love that tube!
