![]() | Although the light setup is poor i'm getting nice nodal growth with 24/0. If it aint broke don't fix it! The electric bill isn't a problem since i'm only using floros anyway. Will a 250 watt HPS bulb be enough to flower one of my babies indoors? The rest will be strategically placed around the state.Just out of curiosity, how long does everyone leave their fan on for. I've got mine running 24/0 with the lights, and my stems look nice & beefy. Does anyone know if this will slow the growth of the rest of the plant? (I.E. leaves, resin production.) PEECE OUT GROWAZ! ![]() ![]() | Annie, If you live on the west coast and run a decent sized MH every day for vegging, saving 18-25% (by going 18/6) on the electric bill is very significant. By this summer, running that 400 MH in Cali. could cost $75 a month. Imagine that... Smokin

![]() | GDay all. Well, since the daylight savings time thing came about i've been running 19/5, i had 18/6 but the extra hour delays my work in the garden, so my girls got an extra hour light and lost an hour dark, they seem to be liking it so far!!! Had not seen anything on 19/5 yet, so thaught i would throw that in here for fun. I run my night cycle during the day while i'm at work, a friend asked the other day if the plant could sense day/night and asked if it would affect growth??? It's a theory, but , i know they will grow either way, but has anyone ever noticed if a plant that respects day/night artificial light the same as sunlight grow any better? With the low/high tides, setting of the moon, gravitational pull theory, etc etc,,, this making any sense? what i'm trying to say is, would it make a difference running your night cycle during the natural day or night? I personaly don't think it would make a lick of diff, but, a few hundred years ago, we thaught that man would never fly either! so. any thaughts. high. bye.

used to grow wow stuff outside in Summer years ago..tried indoors with GE Aquarium lights..22/7 came out splendid..24/7 will also..the quote , self assured respondent claiming we're trying to mimick outside growing is out to lunch..not so buckeroo..outside , where i live , there's about 16 hours of daylight..so, doesn't have anything to do with anything ... experiment , have fun ... after reading how to make weed peanut butter cookies from this form , i've been a fan of this open, wonderful forum ... i thought, for sure, excellent organic sensi from outside in perfect weather would way out class some lousy in house stuff ... not so , not so ... just love that sacred herb and it will love ya back...i'm just irked at Americans for being so dumb as to try to tell me what i can or can't put in me if i hurt others not...they're dangerous... dare to say 'yes' to drugs smartly...and if we'd legalize all drugs on a 5 year trial we'd find no increase in drug use and cops would have to start doing things like helping others and guiding them across the street etc. a 5 year trial ... there will have to be a lot more pain to go through before that happens ... try 24, 18 or whatever ... share the results ... personally, 24 and 22, have done splendidly ![]()

![]() | I am a bit slow to respond to this thread due to work and only just reading some updates. Also being a new to growing person didn't feel I had anything to offer but here goes. As mentioned in other threads I work with scientists that spend their whole life working with plants. Day in and day out. Night day, weekends. I recently asked the age old question of day, night cylces to one of these people also stating what it was relating to. Whilst we didn'[t go into elaborate details he did say that all plants, like humans have a metabolic system that can distingish day and night and that all plants need a period of dark of some length. During this time he said that the plants mobilise there root system to look for food or do something (can't actually rememebr what) and this definately happened during night. I printed this thread out last night before going to work and read it and seem to recall Uncle Ben mentioning something about imatating natures conditions. Well the scientist also said this. He said for perfect growth (optimum growth) one would have to simulate or provide the conditions that the plant thrives under in the wild or in it's natural enviroment and this includes some periods of dark. From what I have read, what he has said and general knowledge, that is why the plants actuallt flower by switching to a 12/12 cycle. The plant thinks it is Autum due to the reduced day length. I have the facilities to reduce day length automatically over days or weeks etc and reduces tempreture and light cycle lenghts so I can imitate a change in season slowly. I can do this (as an example going from 20/4 to 12/12 and temp ranges of 28 degress c during light and 23 c/night down to 23/day 18/night) over a period of days, weeks or months as I build my own controllers. I intend to conduct an experiment to see if it makes a noticable difference. The above is not my ideas but I am simply lurking in the shadows to gain knowledge. I am open to talking to certain scientists at work so I asked. This is info from there but it does seem to go along with Uncle Ben.. Regards, Fatboy. PS: This is contagious. Everyone quotes Uncle Ben and swears by him. I am only new and I have begun to quote the master. Long live Uncle Ben.
