Nice job. Wouldn't be able to get the PAR ratings would you? Talk about complete.

Hey plainsman1963,

I can try to attempt gathering up the PAR ratings. Glad you liked the thread. As long as one person can benefit from it then it is not a waste of time. Still have a few more company's to add in here but I am thinking I need to take a and regroup.

Highonfire - great job. I wish the search functions on this site were better - a searchable database of lamp types would make purchasing/selection a lot easier. But this is a great start.

Lights of America would probably be a good company to add. They make a lot of lamps that growers use because they are right in "the zone" for color temp (color temp).

I suppose anyone who wants to know good from bad could just read the grow journal, but it would be good to be able to rate them in some way too, i.e. Good for Veg, Good for Flowering, Good for Nothing!

Thanks!

No biggie on the par, I don't use it yet. Looks to me like two 42 watters in just over 1 sq. ft would grow a plant. Veg with the 5100k and flower with the 2700k bulb.

I agree the search button needs work. Looking into it.

Hey plainsman1963,

While I have been scanning the net for compact fluoro's I came across an article about PAR ratings and compact fluoro's. Now having said that , I was and only read the dam thing. Searched but cannot find it again (will find it if it kills me). It did not give the ratings but talked about the variations and inacurate data for PAR inregards to compact fluorescents. Saying that though the article went on in great detail about CRI index ratings and Kelvin temps and how they have an edge on HID and HPS (for those who read this and say hahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha right, I am not saying compacts are better but can do the job just fine if the set up is made to use the compacts properly). Well I agree with you on the 42watt bulbs (because I am using them lol, along with larger 125watt compact). I will try to find the article again and post it in here.

Hey cecil_b,

I agree with you about researching the lights, especially with these fluoro's. Just looking at the compiled list so far, I have to say even though it says 23watts, does not make it the right 23watts. Same companies make 3-4 variations of the same 23watt bulb and that is absolutely great for the gardener if we read about the plants requirements of Kelvin temp and so on.
I have to say that I have learned more about compact fluorescents then I ever would have imagined. Great lights if all the details are looked at before just picking up the bulb and slapping it in the room. Hmmm now that you mention the ratings I am trying to figure how to edit this and do a type of rating system.

Anyway I will attempt to add more info as I go along.

I have two 32 watt lights and two 25 watt lights which equals about 7000-7200 lumen area(from the info above). Theyre in a space about 2 feet across and 1.5 deep with about 2 feet high which is all covered in mylar. Do I have enough lights? As the plants grow taller I will add more lights up the wall.
