I just spend half of my lunch hour looking for this light. I went to walmart and the one in my area doesn't have it. I also went to lowes. They didn't have it either. Does anybody know who else might carry it?

![]() | I bought one of these lights today at WalMart and they are pretty dang bright! I have the light about 3-4inches from my plants...Also should I leave the plastic cover in fron of the light, or take it off? These lights (plastic front & all) get kinda hot too. Well compared to my 2 18" flour. If i took the plastic cover off it may relieve some of the heat but I am also thinking the light wont be as directed out of the center of the fixture. What do you guys think? Well I will let you guys know how my babys like it =]

![]() | I bought one at the local wally-mart @ a month ago or so (check my diary), and I think it's a good light. But I agree, it's sadly lacking in red spectrum. Also, there's some fine print on the bottom of the box that all might be interested in knowing about, too. Brightness lumens and resulting light coverage claims are based on scientific studies conducted at Lawrence Berkley Laboratories on photopic luminance and perceived room brightness. Brightness lumens are not equivalent to photopic lumens, as referenced in ANSI photometric test procedures, and should not be confused with lumen measurements in photometric test. Basically, I think the 8255 number is a sales pitch. As I stated, I have had one for a while now - don't get me wrong...it is a bright sucker! I could see putting 2 or 3 into a smaller, well ventilated space and having good success with them. Again, there's also the need for supplemental flouros richer in the red end for budding. My GE Cool Star provides me with a smidgen more in that department (only because I can't fit my big `ol shop light in there comfortably!). Ergo, my buds are a bit bigger than they would have been with just the Flourex. But still not nearly as big as they could be with even a 70W HPS let alone a 400W or bigger. It's a case of expendable income with me, (can't spend any! ) so I stick with my flouros. If I ever had the cash, I would absolutely go for an HPS for flowering. The results speak for themselves.Stay Green! ![]() E.C.

Well I have 400watts of hps light so im really not worried about having a problem flowering. I need some more flouro light so my plants can veg well. I heard the flouros help the stems get strong and some other stuff. I only have a stinkin 20watt flouro in my room along with the hps lights. If i did have a couple of those work lights in my room would there really be any need for the hps lights at this point.. I'm just thinking about power issues. I do notice quite a lot of growth using the hps lamps but would having both flouro and hps on at the same time really improve growth at all? The hps lights seems to produce a lot of heat and at this stage i don't think they should be exposed to a lot high temps. This ties in with having seperate rooms for different stages in growth.. I have seen people only use flouros up to a certain point and then of course bring them into the flowering room where the hps lamps are. Is that better than having hps and flouro on at same time?

That has not been my experience. My 65w Fluorex may kick off SOME heat, but not near what your experience was.b4 I got a 400 hps I used a 70w hps.To me the 70w hps ran hotter than the 65w fluorex. Now I use it (fluorex) in a small veg. chamber (1.5 x 2ft) no problem. It is vented of course. $.02

![]() | Hold it a nano..... LoA doesnt make a 500 watt anything ( I wish they did ). The highest they put out ( so far ) is a 65 w fluro. flood light. What theyre saying is its equal. to a 500w whatever. Prolbably incandescent. ![]() If you pass them by, you may be missing out. Harrod also mentioned these new 4ft x 1" fluro...cant recall . I believe in the not so distant future, the old 4' shoplight tubes will be obsolete...along with incandescents. $.02
