![]() | 3x3 is 9 square feet. You need a min of 3000 lm/sqft, ideally somewhere over 6000 lm/sqft. Each of the shop lights I originally posted were 8255 lumens. You would need a min of 3 or 4 of them to light up your area. Ideally, I would put 6-7 in the room... but that's ideally. If you can only find the black cased ones that put out only 6500 lumens, you may need an additional 1 or 2. If you're on a budget, I'd say go with 4 of these for your space. It will cost you $100 up front, but will keep your room lit and be as economical on your electric bill as an HPS of similar luminosity. Keep in mind that these (unless they come out with other bulbs) are only for vegging. As far as your space goes... You'd be safe planting as close as 2 per sqft. I personally have 10 plants in 8sqft, or 1.25 plants per square foot. The more plants you have the less time you have to veg them for to get them to fill your area. Peace, Born420

Just bought two of the 8255lumens ones... damn its bright!! but anyway... does anyone know the melting point of mylar? would it be possible to retrofit a piece of mylar onto the reflector to get more output? Or would it be too hot?

![]() | elzz, It already has that for the reflector... and it isnt that great... something like a high pollished aluminum or mylar could reflect more light

![]() | well i think it would take up too much space to put that many lights in the area, so then these compact fluoros will help on my space then? say like 3 or 4 100 watt compact flouros would do? this is just a veg room and I am short on space, money isn't a problem with the lights but I need compact stuff.. I have a seperate flowering place, also this would act as a clone chamber?thanks all.... what about Jamaica seed? anyone grow these?? Hempgirl

![]() | Hempgirl - compacts would probably be ideal for your space, try and get the 150W equivalent bulbs (26W) to pack more light into the same number of fittings. I don't know the lumen output for these compacts...maybe if Harrads around he'll jump in with that info, I'm sure it's tucked under his hat somewhere . How big are you going to let the plants get in there? If there going to be getting big and bushy you should put some on the walls too as penetration isn't great. Hope this helps

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | hempgirl, Most CF lamps output around 85-90 Lumens/Watt. The basic rules apply to CF's as well. Try to acheive a minimum of 30 (Actual) Watts Per Square Foot for good results. Hope this helps! Harrad.
