Thumbs up

...all I can quote is LoA brand.
Their circular compacts, one in particular, is a 30w=150w, 2400lm, 2700k.
Its in the reddish spectrum. I paid $10ea. & bought four of 'em. I use them for side lighting equaling 9600lm. Paired with ( I have the lower lumen flood type ) the Fluorex 65w=400w?, 6825lm, & 6500k you are achieving a full spectrum veg-area. This should cover about 3 sf nicely. Do the math.
Im on the look out for the newer "work-lite" version that Born420 hepped us to.

hmm.. the phillips compact flo's said they were 1500 lumens.. and they are pretty damn bright, but dont heat up too much. My plants seemed to love em during the veg stage, and the heat wasnt that bad.

pot peace

hempgirl and takshaka,

These lights ARE compact floros... just very powerful ones... i dont see the point in loading a grow area with a sh1tload of other, less powerfull compacts when 3 of these 8255lumen spotlights will give u 2,751.67 lumens psf for your area. Thats not a bad start at all.

Just doesnt make much sense to me to complicate things with more lamps then you need. Also, as a side note, hempgirl, the whole spotlight unit is only about 12in X 8in X 3in...so they can fit in your area.

just for sh1ts and giggles...

Heres a pic of my two lamps in action.. please note that the picture does them absolutely no justice.. the surrounding area looks black because the CMOS sensor in my cheap camera can't handle the intensity that well.

Let me say this: if you look straight at the lights for more then a few seconds then you WILL see spots and have trouble adjusting to the lower light levels after you look away.

just incase anyone cares..

here are some comparison pics for the lights.

Top Left: The 2 lights while off
Top Right: Light compared to the stoners unit of measurement..a lighter
Bottom Left: Light compared to lighter, both being held in my hand... (with this thread in the background!)
Bottom Right: Light compared to a "regular" compact floro... (Also happens to be made by LOA)

Takshaka is beginning to sprout.

I realise that this light is just a big-ass compact fluoro but we're not all in the US so for some of us that light just ain't an option. Trust me I'd be first in line for one of those babies if they were available here .

In the UK compact fluoro bulbs are less than 1/2 the price you pay in the states whereas ordinary fluoros are about twice the price...so for anyone over here on a tight budget or wanting supplemental lighting they're a very good option.

You can also get them in cool and warm so they can be used for veg and flowering.

elzz - what W are those 1500 lumen compacts?

cheers

I thought i would take some pics of my LOA 65watt floro (I have the floodlight, not the shop light). Maybe it will bring justice to wicked's post. VERY BRIGHT!!!

Wicked.. that picture of the regular compact fluoro u took looks nothin like the compact fluoros i have! The ones i have look more like the shop light ones, except without as many tubes.. mine are made by phillips.
peace!~

Isn't 2700K perfect for flowering? 2700Kelvin is the same light color of a HPS light. So would a few of these be alright for flowering? I have one LoA compact like the one above and am thinking about buying more since I looked on the bulb last night and it says 27K which would be good for flowering I think. What do you guys think?

Thumbs up to Harrad!!!

Yes theyre good for flowering AND will give a fuller spectrum when paired with Fluorex when vegging. Also, you may team the Fluorex with an hps when budding.
I believe an hps is around 2100k..
