Ok so hps beats cfls for flowering watt per watt. But say i want my plants in veg to grow slow to stall time for plants in my flowering room to finish and i have all the time i want so i use cfls to veg because plants grow slower with them. Then i put them to flower using a hps light. At the end will i still get the same QUANTITY as i wouldl if i used a hps to veg? (both veg to same size and height) I read a couple articles on this but want to hear peoples opinion.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Do you want your plants to grow slow or stay small? I've vegged with various floros and with a HPS. The most compact growth came from using an assload of the 48" floro tubes (12 bulbs). The plus side of using cfls or any fluorescent light is that you can keep it much closer to the tops of the plants, thus keeping the internodal stretch to a minimum. If you skimp on the lighting, your plants will grow slower but will also stretch more. You wanna stall time? Clone. Take them after the sex of the plant is determined. Say your plant is two weeks into flowering before you find out it is a female. You take your cuttings, allow a couple weeks for them establish roots, that leaves you 4 weeks before your flowering room is done (assuming they are an 8 wk flowering strain). ![]()

![]() ![]() | It's cool to keep them under cfl's to veg. As long as the flo's are really close to the plants, the internode lengths should stay close together. A suggestion though...If you have plants in a veg room with a seperate flower room, why not just use the veg room for a couple mother plants under cfl's, take clones and put 'em in the flower room when they're ready, and keep a perpetual grow going?

Say i have a set of rooted clones, cuttings are taken from them and then thrown into flowering a few days later. It'll take my rooted clones 8 weeks or so to flower giving my new cuttings 8 weeks to do whatever they do. By that time they'll probably be about 20 or so inches tall which is not the height i wanna put them into flowering.
