Winter daylight hours ok to flower in?
permalink

Hey hey from the frozen South(ern hemisphere)... I scored a 'budget mix' of 12 (assorted) seeds from Heaven's Stairway and have since been growing them indoors in soil (no ferts, just Superthrive) under 6 20W 1200lumen 'economy' fluoro light bulbs (and the ~3 hours of noon sun we get at the moment). Utterly inadequate I'm sure, but the thing is that (and I'm sure Superthrive has something to do with this!) 42 days after sowing, one plant reached 40cm and so I started to flower it. That was 10 days ago so I'm very eagerly looking for signs of gender. Since then 3 more of the 12 are doing 12/12 - so I have 4 flowering 40cm+ plants under 2 bulbs and the 8 vegetators under the other 4 bulbs. ANYWAY! ... my question is: I have to go away for five days in a week and am too cheap (like this is a surprise...) to get an electronic timer. So I'm wondering if I could leave the plants that I'm flowering at that point by the window while I'm away to receive only sunlight. Sunset will be 9.5 hours after sunrise at that time and the plant will receive very little direct sunlight so I'm not sure how good an idea this is. When I get back home I'll return to 12/12 under the fluoro bulbs. Oh yeah something else I've been wondering about: the plants are in the same room that I live in. Coz of the cold temps here, the room only gets ventilated for a couple of hours a day, with me in the room exhaling CO2 with them for a lot of the rest of the time. This would be good for them yes? Also, the smallest plant is very very smelly and has huge wide indica-esque leaves. Living in the same room as this smell isn't going to get me in any way even slightly stoned, right? (I kinda hope not... honors project due next month!) Cheers for any help... I need to use paragraphs :-/
