Ive tried 2 forums and nobody answered... I need an answer very soon, my plants need more light and the internode space is like 1" now. Anyways, I searched a few stores and found a 150W Globe HPS, the bulb is a Globe Superbulb. It has the reflector, the fixture, ballast, and bulb and is 90$. Is this good? It produces 16 000 lumens and bulb has a life of 24 000 hours. Thanks for your advice. I just want to make sure Im not getting ripped off and Globe is a good company.

Smoke on.

Thats alot of money for a small light. HPS bulbs last a very long time if you keep them dry. SHo[ around a bit you might dp better. Theres a gazillion people selling HPS lamps and ballasts on the web.

I don't know about the brand "Globe", but that sounds like a good buy to me, so go for it, and get you little ones some light.

Peace, Observer

That's probably good to start, so they don't shock at all, but you should move it down over the next couple of days or so, till the temperature of the plants closest to the light is not above perhaps 90F, or 95F perhaps at the top tips. You can just put your hand in there and feel if it gets too hot in a minute or two. You'll just need to keep a close eye on them for a while, untill you become familiar with the light. I would think that somewhere around 16" would be good, but I don't know for sure about the heat from a 150 watt bulb, I've not used that particular size as of yet. I know you'll be happy with the light, and should notice faster growth almost immediately.

Peace, Observer

Howdy gecko,

I have a 150w HPS and I have gotten the tops to about 6" before they started to burn. Although I normally keep it about 1' away so that the edges don't get shaded too much. One plant has been sitting about 3" away from the bulb and got leaf burn but I'll be damned if the pods aren't huge on that one side of the bud. I have since backed it off and it is recovering I think.

Good Growing
