| Hello All, First of all I would like to say thanks to all the people here before I begin. This is a great resource! Here is my situation. I currently have one 430w Son Agro lamp with reflector that I started out with. The room it is in is 4x4 about 7 feet high with all white walls. I generally adjust lamp distance by raising the floor as opposed to lowering the light. I have used this setup with good results. However, I would like to build a small flowering room the same size while keeping this room for vegging and would like some input on additional lighting. Questions: 1. Should I move my 430w lamp to the flower room and purchase a 400w MH lamp for the Veg room or should I stay with two 430w Son Agro's for both rooms and why? 2. Does the 400w MH have enough lumens to cover this area? 3. I see all the talk about watts per square foot, however shouldn't we be discussing light in lumens per square foot? Here are my calulations. 430w Son Agro Lamp = 53,000 lumens. Divided by 16 (size of my room) = 3312.5 lumens per square foot. 430w Son Agro Lamp = 490 watts. Divided by 16 (size of my room) = 30.625 watts per square foot. 400w MH Lamp = 36,000 lumens. Divided by 16 (again the size of my room) = 2250 Lumens per square foot. 400w MH Lamp = 400 watts. Divided by 16 (again the size of my room) = 25 watts per square foot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Hybrid | ||

| I would go with the son agro x 2 . With the mh400 you would get only 2250lpsf that doesnt even compare with the son agro. Different strokes for folks on the watts/lumen issue. I am ruuning 80wpsf with only about 90,000 lumens which gives me 9000lpsf which is very high. Is the son agro a full spectrum bulb? If so then there is no choice unless you cant afford the price. This is just what I would do in your situation. The end product is what matters | ||

| Hey Hybrid, Here's what I'd do. I'd get a 400w hps system along with a 400w hortilux bulb. It's just like the GE sonagro, but made to fit a 400w ballast. You could also save some money going with the 400w system instead of the more pricy 430 system. Candank | ||
