| hey Gremmie420 and welcome to hempcultivation.com HID lamps can operate on many different potential differences, 60V, 120V, 220V, etc. If you buy a lamp that is made for indoor growth, it will most likely have a standard plug. But if not, as long as it is of the correct voltage, it can be rewired very easily. HIDs actually use less power and put out more lumens that any other type of lamp. For example you need 160Watts of fluorescents to equal 35 to 40Watts of HID lamps. So you would pay 4 times less if you had an HID. If you use one 400W HID lamp (which will support at least a dozen plants), it will cost you around $20 a month for 24 hour lighting and $10 once you're on a 12/12 hour of light cycle. There are 3 main types of HIDs: HPS (High Pressure Sodium), MH (Metal Halide), and MV (Mercury Vapor). HPS is pretty much the best all around lamp, MH is best for vegetative growth, and MV just sucks. You could probably get a 400Watt HPS lamp for around $150. I can help you look for one and find one if you email me (mihir6716@aol.com). peace, Squanto [This message has been edited by squanto (edited April 09, 2000).] | ||
