I'm just curious cause whenever someone asks if their overall lack of good lights (ie fluro, halogen, incadescent) will actually keep the plant growing everyone always says use those expensive HPS lights. So how many people here are actually using them?

I just think it's not very helpful for that to always be the answer when most people that are asking are only experimenting and probably don't have the HPS cause they don't want drop $300 for a setup.

Ordell Robbie: AK-47. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every motherfucker in the room. Accept no substitutes.

Aside from the violent nature of this statement it kind of puts the growlight situation in perspective. If you really want to grow indoors, why mess around with anything but the best? The odds are with you if you grow under real lights. When you really get into the growing process you want to do what's best for the plants and more lights is always good.*

P.S. I'm just a newbie

Any newbie could get set up with a great hydro system, an HPS lighting system and get some great bud... all for under $150. Small operation only..

I own hid fixtures and I swear by them, just because them are mh/hps doesnt mean they have to cost big bucks. I got 2 400w mh for $160 american. How do you like that?

I currently use both flos and HPS. The HPS is worth ten times it's weight in any other type of light.

Where do you get lights that cheap? I've never seen any online for less than what I can pay. Most of the lights I see are VERY expensive...If I found 2 400W HPS lights for $300 I would jump on that, but $160?!?!?! Where?

Pm me and I'll fill you in on the specific of those lamps. They aren't those pretty remote ballast models though, but the price is right. I can get as many of these as needed.
