![]() | I'm not a light expert, but I read the more light the better. Has any one ever used a mercury vapor light? Or I could also get my hands on a "high intensity discharge (hid) light.from 400w to 1000w per light. They are used in warehouses and gymnasiums...Power isn't an issue and I'm in a remote area so I dont have to worry about people wodering about my glowing house. ![]()

| I use HPS HID lamps. I use 400 and 1000 watt. The ballasts are very noisy, and produce alot of heat. The bulbs are very exspensive and to make them last you have to take care of them. The grow lamps you buy online are quiet in comparison. Grow lamps are set up for you to use. HPS HID lamps are not. You have to be kind of handy to use them. I have the 1000 wat bulbs wired to 240 v AC. The 240 cuts down on the bill. The 400's are wired to 120. The 1000 watt ballasts heat an area that is 20X22X9. | ||

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Don't consider anything else other than a MH or HPS. The MV (mercury vapor) lamps suck as far as lumen output and heat goes. My personal suggestion is that if you want to buy only one kind of light make it HPS ![]() LB

![]() | I think I'm getting closer.... OK, now I am able to get the HPS light. (this is better then HID RIGHT?? so they range from 35 watt to 1000 watt. I need something that I will be able to hook up to 120v and will not fri my plant. a 100 watt hps light will give 8550 lumens a 150 will give 14400 and 250 will give 27000 what should I go with if I just have one plant? (but I plan to have a few more in a whyle so wouldent mind getting something that would take care of 2-4 plants) hope I aint get'n ye frustrated with me! smile!

| HPS is a hid light. If you think you will expand to at least a 4x4 space then get a 400w, or the 430w Agrosun model.Check out www.discount-hydro.com and look in budget lighting section they have what you need. Mark is a good guy and they have great service. Also keep in mind more light , more ventalation. ![]() | Shopping.... I'm looking at getting eather 1 of the following. a suggestion would come in handy here. 1. screw in compact fluo light 28 watt 1485 lumens. 2. plug in compact fluo light 42 watt 2720 lumens. 3. metal halide 175 watt 8300 lumens the metal halide is available in a clear and coated bulb. wich is best? The goal is to get the most lumens right? I only have 1 plant at the moment, would a MH light be too much? Any reply is welcome, thankx agin mr g ![]() | ||
