I have newly rooted clones in a hydro unit and I have a newly aquired 400 watt HPS light. I have currently 300 watts HPS about <2 ft away, if I turn on the 400 watt will it be too much for the freshly rooted clones? or is it best to wait till they are more developed to blast them? Hempgirl

![]() | by nicely rooted you mean the roots are hanging out the cube pretty nicely or till they hit the bottom of the cube? cause they are below the cube now? HG

![]() | well....i just came upon a recent thread that says if you can see roots out the bottom, it's ok to put under hid lights.the extra 400 watts...i personally don't know. i would probly let them sit under the 300 watt for a week and then add the 400, just to give them a little extra time to get ready to put those new roots to work.just don't forget...the plant will only grow as fast as the root system will let it. bonsai

![]() | If you can keep the tops from burning with fans and ventilation, and you can get the lights close enough to the plant tops then the light is not too much. problem is that when they are that small you can't get the lights lower and they stretch, but I have done it and got bushy little girls with a GOOD ventilation system running. floros will do just fine, but I think you might want a MH instead of the HPS.
