Ok, now before I get flamed for posting something that is posted 500000000000000000 times(slightly exaggerated), and being accused of not searching before posting. I have spent the past 3 hrs searching for something on ventilation to help me fix my problem. With that being said, I now bow down to the vast knowledge that is the mass here at GC and humbly ask for help. Here is my setup: 24"W x 20"D x 59"H, 6" 256CFM exhaust fan into 4" ducting to a can filter at the end for odor control, and another 6" with a 4" adapter so I didn't have to cut a huge hole in the floor. Lights are 1 200W 2700k CFL. My problem is, I'm seeing 90+ deg F in there with the CFL on and door closed, if I leave the door open I can keep the temp down to 80ish, and with the CFL off mid 70's. Anyone have any ideas on how I can drop the temp down some with the CFL on. For right now I guess Ill just leave the door cracked open a bit throughout the night. Thanks again for all your help. Ruben

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you only have a 4 X 6" adapter for intake, that means the air is moving thru a 4" circle, right? Most people say 3X the intake to outtake is what it needs, so a 6" exhaust needs 3 X 6" holes for passive intake. It sounds like yours is passive- or does the vent go from intake>>>Cooltube>>>out? If it is passive, you need more intake area. 6" circle for exhaust = 28 sq. inches, so you'd want about 75 + square inches for passive intake. You could do that with a 10" hole. I know that's a huge hole, but if you cut out the bottom of the cab you could lay hardware cloth with a 1/4" mesh all over the inside of the cabinet, and have support for the grow. I bet your not getting enough air into the cab- you can only pull so much, and otherwise the exhaust fan will create a partial vacuum, and not exhaust a lot. Also, use a DIY Cooltube for the 200W bulb, and try to have the open end point towards the CFL's to draw as much heat as you can. Put a small fan, like a desk fan, blowing over the CFL's too, pointed towards the exhaust. ![]()

![]() | Alright, so after about $20 at Home De Pot, and with the extra exhaust fans and ducting I had laying around. I was able to make one hellova cool tube tybe something-or-other. My temps in there prior to were 90+F, Now its holding at a remarkable 78, while my bedroom is holding at 80. Now thats impressive!! Thank you everyone for your advice. If anyone else is interested in turning their sunsystems CFL reflector into a cool tube type device Ill make a bit of a write up on how I did it, and the headaches I ran into. Thanks again everyone! Keep growin. Pics posted soon. Ruben

![]() | Well... I got excited to early. I woke up this morning to find my temps at a whoppin 95, the only thing I can think of is that the total room got to warm with the window AC unit off for the night. Im going to do some more testing, and getting a 6" hole saw wednesday so I can have fresh, outside air for that 6" fan sucking air through the "cool tube" I made. Can someone point me in the right direction for how to post pics safely? So I dont have any hidden personal info on the photo to come back and haunt me. My wife has her card, but being safe... Ya know. L8R Ruben

![]() | BTW future, thanks for the info. I'm planning on putting a much bigger hole in the floor of the cab. I put a long strip about 3/4 the width by abt 3" or so along the back and that helped, but not solved. Going to get some hardware cloth, and 1/4" mesh wednesday. Will update with pics once I find that post again on the pic data removal. Ruben

![]() | ask and you shall receive. BTW If you notice in the pic of the bulb near the right hand center photo is what looks like a hole, thats the passive inlet. I built a cool tube for my 150W HPS, but there isnt enough room for the two of em. without the cool tube setup, i was running close to triple digits, she is now holding steady at 83 F. l8r Ruben

The cab is one of the arm-ours(or however you spell it) you can get from ikea for like $150. The flowering area is 24"w X 19.5"d X 59"h there is a hole about 22"l X 3"w all along the back of the floor, there is a 6" fan with a 4" adapter that is running to the can fan, and can filter for odor control. In the veg area there is a single 4" exhaust that is Y'ed into the filter, no passive air in yet really, just a few 1" holes I have drilled in the floor of the cab. Momma has been in there for a while now and she is happy as a clam, she had a little crispy tips for about 2 weeks, but she has adapted to the 85F temps. There is a 12" fan up in the top to recirculate the air around, and help push hot air out, and to make movement for the girls. That top section is the cloning area, its connected, ventilation wise, with the veg area. Thats it in a nutshell. L8R Ruben
