Like, my container is fairly small, to small to have a ballast with an HPS, and 7k lumens per sq foot is a lot of lights for this small container.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Aim for like 4000-5000 Lumens per square foot. 7,000+ lumens is like best case scenario with proper ventilation... 2.65sq/ft with 4000 lumens per square feet is 10600 lumens I.E. (1) 26w cfl = 1600 lumens (8) 26w cfls(208w total) =12800 lumens which is 4800 lumens per sq/ft I use a 70w HPS and a 65w CFL for a total of approx 11,000 lumens in 2 sq/ft works very well with autoflower dwarf MJ check the link in my sig for more details....

cannabis plants thoroughly enjoy direct and blinding hot summer sunshinebut i think my plants yield decently with less than the minimum recommended 2000 lumens per square foot until i can offer more anyways ![]() P3n

Only problem is I don't know what they called. I called lowes and asked the guy if they had them, and after explaining it's like a Y socket but with 4 instead of 2, he got me and said they did have them. By the time I hung up I realized I forgot what they are called. What are they called? a Y socket adapter but with 4 spots for lights instead of 2. 8 lights, 24 watts each = 192 watts, which at about 65 lumens per wat is 12480. For my container that's just at about 4-5k lumens per sqr foot. So if I can only figure out what those 4 way adapters are called I will have my lights covered.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | those 8 lights will produce a comparable amount of heat to the setup i've described with a 70w hps and a 65wcfl.... i dunno if theres a lowes near you but they have 70w HPS for $34.99 HPS will penetrate a lot deeper than cfls. In my box the plants under the HPS side do get heavier more dense buds. I am considering switching to a 100w MH or another 70w HPS in that box instead of 65w CFL...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the ballast on 50w and 70w are little computer boards that are like size of a 3x5 card with capacitors on em and such....maybe an inch and a half tall. the ballast are easy to remove from the housing as well as the bulb and socket... I am an electricity novice and have done this with no help. Last edited by sticky_bud; 11-02-2009 at 04:29 PM..
