Arghh!! Electrical wiring

I have two light switches 1. to the back room 2. for the front of the room
Brother kept turning off switch 1 when he wanted to turn switch 2 on.
So I got the idea to remove switch 1 (I don't need it turning on and off)

Problem when I connect the wires , I have no power in the back room

If you take the two wires off the switch and then splice those two wires together then you will now have power all the time to whatever the switch was operating and the switch will no longer work. Thats all that should need to be done if you no longer need the switch. As long as we are talking about a normal switch and not a 3-way or something like that.

Peace...

Soryy, man, but thats the worst thing you wanna hear for electrical problems.......ask Indiegurl, I believe she's good with electrical stuff.

heh bro I really think you should get your electrics checked out , your sockets(or outlets, watever you call them where you are) should not be fed from the lighting circiut, not good

First of all lights and electrical receptacles (plugs/outlets/sockets) can be on the same circuit; there is no problem there.

Second, where the hell are you from, Italras? That switch looks odd to me.

You had 4 wires connected... somewhere? Those pictures are the two different switches? What picture is what? You have 4 black wires going to that switch... wtf?

A simple switch will be wired one of two ways: power goes to the light first, then to the switch, or to the switch first then the light.

It sounds like... well it sounds like something is wrong but I have to go to sleep so i'll get back to you.

I'm from Canada, eh!

It is quite common to have lights and plugs on the same circuit. There is a code for this. No more than 12 plugs on one circuit. Light loads are calculated by how much the light draws. When I wire a bathroom in a house, for example, I always put the power to the GFCI first, then from the LOAD side of the GFCI I power the lights. That way if you stick your soaking wet fingers all over the switch, you are protected from shock from the GFCI.

This Italres guy looks like he has a switch box that powers other things, like the socket somewhere else. Its hard to diagnose from these pictures but he could put an electrical meter on these wires and find out wich is the power feed, for starters.

heh there indiegirl, thanks for the info, very interesting &total diferent way of house wireing, but i must say i like your way, over here we have independent circuit for lights & sokets, our lights are like yours but fed off 6A brekers inthe board on a radial feed toeach room,1 circuit for ground floor 1 for up & then we run 16A feed thru a rcd (gfci) down thru a ring main of no more than 100m area to each socket, again 1 for up & 1 for down stairs, you can see no rcd on the lights alltho most fusebox manufacturers are making there boards with a rcd as the main breaker covering all cicuits, we run a 240V 50Hz mains voltage, I think sometime in the near future we are replacing the ring main with a radial feed to bring us inline with the rest of europe.
yes italras needs his switch metering out really, it cud be done the hard way by try this try that but im somtimes a bit reluctant getting some 1 to do that for me, ive had it before over the telephone & i allways end up going to sort out more problems,;0), oh yes ive got a old skule mate in canada that i chat to on facebook. nice 1 indie cool chat to ya

Interesting. I have to wonder what it would be like to work in Europe. He could always just grab them one at a time while live to find out which is the power I got zapped yesterday while working.
