hey brothahs and sistahs, just got my ADVANCE 71A8231 BALLAST 250W S50 LAMP W/ CAPACITOR ... came with no socket for the balb or instructions......anyone have easy pics or instructions on how to get my lights up and runnin????

sorry my friend but that is not a multi-tap ballast and only runs on 277v current. You should return it if possible. Theres no simple way to get it to work on standard current if you live in the USA. Now if you've got 277v current coming right out of your wall, thats another story.

the balb im tryin to get lit up is 250W SUPER HPS HYDROPONICS SODIUM GROW LIGHTS BULB ..... i asked on here if the ballast i was lookin for is what i needed... man i dunno just want to get ma lights on! have 250 commin out the wall!

well even if you had 277v current, it still wouldnt light that bulb. thats a MH ballast and will only work with MH bulbs... You need a 250w HPS multi-tap ballast. like this 250 Watt - High Pressure Sodium Ballast - 4 Tap - Sola E-971-W-SO250 Light Bulb

dude it say hps 250 on the side of the ballast box and has the same techs.(wattage wise)as the link you sent me for the ausi s50..says it will fire the hps250..but i will send it back ,at this point im just losin money left and right and dont even know if the states going to free us up or not.....dont wanna give up just real limited funds!

grrrr this is so frustrating ,got the right balb finally, balb doesnt fit anything i can find around here, ordered ballast another week in a half of waiting.....please someone take a brothah by the hand!!

is there a wiring diagram on the ballast? all the things i read on that model # say its a 277v only, doesnt say if its a hps or not actually, but i dont see an ignitor so.

it does have an ignitor as well, 3 parts to the thing,i found this on ebay and i think the kat i got it from has like 7 left...check it out if ya get some time, i would hate to send it bac if this actully good to go!! thanks for your help!!ive looked and read everywhere and cant figuar it out... cant flower with a MV balb!

yeah, well it is a HPS lamp, your right... but it does only accept 277v current, so yeah... no good. You need a multi-tap ballast

too kwel they are going to refund my money and told me to keep the ballast....pretty kwel people to do that!!!anyways gues im just going to have to invest in a full functiong unit....damn i aint got that money....theres some balbs out at wal-mart(unfortuately only place to shop where i live(out in the sticks) they are tottly blue flours. use 15 watts but put out 75 watts and garanteed for 15 years BUT DONT HAVE THE LIGHT SPECTS ONEM,JUST KNOW THEY ARE USED FOR PLANTS and give off blue light, was thinkin about pickin up enough for 600 watts,pluggem into a powerstrip...I DUNNO, ANY FEEDBACK WOULD BE APPERCIATED!!!!!!
