![]() ![]() | I found an adapter that will take the E40 bulb down to an E26 (standard household size). I already have a fixture. Will this adapter and bulb be all I need? Thanks for the time. We've been going rounds with this lighting, and just want to be sure we'll have averything we need if we do this. Love n' Light Hip ![]()

![]() | My two 125 watt cfl's just go straight into an e40 socket then into the wall with atandard uk socket and 13amp fuse. you can pick up a ceramic e40 holder for 5 quid and wire it up for yourself. just to give you a warning, ballasts on the larger (125w up) cfl's can get quite warm, especially the 2700k which lead to the burning of the top. the 6400k bulbs are very effective for veging, very small internode distance and makes the plant very bushy.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Check out my grow journal in my sig line if you'd like to see how a CFL only grow can do. Realize you will sacrifice yield compared to HPS but I got 4 ounces from two plants last grow with only CFL's. It very important to keep the bulbs just an inch or two above the plants once they hit veg stage. Good luck.

I have been using only cfl's for about a year now, and my results have been decent. The issue is that by the time you get enough light to the plant, you will be using as much electricity as an HPS, with poorer results. It's all in the inverse square law... a 400w HPS provides about the same amount of light at the top of the plants, but near the base, they are providing about four to five times the light as cfl's. This is why the plants produce less, as the amount of light hitting the entire plant is substantially higher, allowing much greater development. The more wattage of your HPS, the better the light saturation will be. CFL's and LED's simply are not capable of enough penetration to provide max harvests.

Also, the flowering question... switch to 2700K(Warm white, soft white) for the bud cycle. It's even less effective to bud under 6400K-6500K than to bud under typical Metal Halide. It will work, but your best results will come from a redder spectrum during budding. Some sources say 2500K is best, HPS are usually 2100k-2200K , CFL are available in 2700K and 3000K.
