Hey all, I'm considering getting some compact fluoros because, well...for my own strange reasons. So my question is, if I use compact fluoros will that be a huge disdavantage? I can get some 60 watt compacts for really cheap and wanted to use them for a few more babies I'm starting. 1 bulb over each plant, would that work ya think? Thanks in advance- -J ![]()

Those dont give out to many lumens, and arnt recommended; but if you are getting a good deal on them- go for it. I use them for side lighting for my plants but would not grow them totaly with em. For sprouts one per plant would be fine, but once there over 5 inchs get to per plant, then get another (total 3 per plant) once there about a foot. Lates

![]() | errrr....there are compact flos that are more powerful and more efficient than the long tubes. There is a thread around here about a light from Lights of America called Fluorex. They have a shop light...fluorescent...that puts out over 8000 lumens. http://www.hempcultivation.com/420/s...hts+of+america As far as space requirements....compact flo's are an excellent alternative to long tubes. These lights are fine for vegging, clones, mother plants...and as Jarrydj said...for side lighting. If you can...add some MH later in vegging for a good kick. Then flower with HPS. You can use flo's for the entire grow..it will take longer tho..and you have to have the lights right on top of the plants..which means you will be moving lights almost every day. Oh...and patience....better have lot's of patience if you grow with flo's...it really does take longer! When using flo's, remember....cool white for veg - warm white for flower. I though; when he ment "Compact Floros" that he ment the lightbulb lights, that just screw into any hosehold socket. Sorry about the mixup. Peace.
