Need advice on Sodium to M.H ratio.
permalink

Is there anything to be gained from mixing M.H lights with Sodium lights during the flowering phase.If so,at what ratio should the two types be mixed?
At present I only veg my Indica/mostly Indica clones under my bloom wattage for 7-10 days untill they reach 8 inches,so I viewed the cost of buying additional M.H lights which would only be used for a week or two as excessive.
Let's say hypothetically;
I have 6 600watt sodiums(with bulbs that contain a boost in the blue spectrum).The total light in the growroom works out at 60 watts per square foot.
However,there are a couple of patches in the growroom which recieve a little less light than the rest so should this be supplemented with additional more M.H or Sodium lighting.
I'm thinking M.H
Any advice gratefully recieved

i would think the supplimental mh lighting would be outstanding. the added blue/white spectrum will enrich the hps and balance better. also they will brigten the whole room a little. just my thoughts. latr, J D.

I say throw a couple of low-wattage MH lights in there. Take your cues from the sun...the best grow light available. It puts out full spectrum light, which is what the plant needs to grow. It's been shown (not conclusively, I don't believe, but generally agreed upon) that cannabis prefers more red light during flowering. That is not saying that it doesn't need the blue, just that is uses more red. Throwing some blue light will certainly help things overall, as you already have 3600 watts of HPS light in there, and probably don't need more red light.

But that's just my thoughts...talk to Delta (or Harrad if you can find him). They'll set you straight.

i really don't care if the experts can't agree on which is best, at what ratio, etc..all i can say for sure, is, when i added 3-1000 wt. MH to the 6-1000 wt. HPS, in the flowering room, WHAMM!!! things just took-off!! it SEEMS twice as bright.

Thanks for the replies all.
I haven't had the time to do much reading recently so when I found the full spectrum thread in the theory section that did it.
Nice one.
