2 1000w or 5 400w
permalink

I just have a quick question about some lights. What would be a better 2 1000w HPS light which gives you a total of 260,000 lumens to work with or 5 400w HPS lights which would give you 250,000 lumen to work with, or 4 600w lights which im not sure how many lumens you get.
Now with the 1000w lights you get 10,000 more lumens, but with the 400w lights you would be able to cover more area.
So what lighting would you go with for a room with appox. 25 plants?

Thanks for any help Daza

Figure the square footage of the area you need to cover, and go for at least 5-6000 lumens per square foot.
As far as light placement- what are the dimensions of the room- are we talking about a square, a rectangle? Are light movers a possibility? Are you vegging and flowering in the same room?

Either way, I know for a fact, that I would get 3 400 watt HPS, and a 400 watt MH. You would be able to spread out the light much more across the plants... dealing with one light is twice as hard as dealing with two.

3hounds, the room that ill be setting it up in is 9.5 feet x 25 feet(237.5 square feet), but I will be putting up walls, I want the veg and flowering seperate, like I said before I would like to put about 25 plants.

(2 1000w)- If I had 6000 lumens per square foot the room would have to be 7x6 feet(42 square feet), im not sure about you , but to me that doesnt sound look like it will be large enough for 25 plants. Thats y I was wondering if I should make the room bigger and go with a couple more, lesser wattage lights cause they would cover more of an area.

Have no clue for size or lights for the veg room, but im open for ideas.

I thought growing would be easy, just through a couple light and plants in the same room and wham instant BUD. Not the case. I want to do it right.

Thanks Daza

Then I would really, really, really suggest that you do at least one grow with fewer plants under one light.

I know I should try a smaller set up, but the buddy im doing it with is hell bent on 25 plant and seeing that it his house , I dont have that many options.

But what I can do is set it up the right way, with your guys help and the info on this site, hopefully everything goes good, if not I guess ill just learn form my mistakes. Thanks for the advice on going to a smaller set, but I think ill stick to the original plans.

So 3hound are you going to beable to give me advice on the question I ask before.

Standard rule of thumb, one square foot per plant. You may need more if you are going to train them, but for just straight up growing, that would be the norm.

Peace,

25 plants?

I hope you take into consideration them ionizers, because
just a couple stink up an apt, what you think 25 is gonna do
to a house?

Better hope a house resident don't ever get served
for anything, or ever have an excuse for LEO to stop by..
because he will SMELL it..veggers and flowering the same.

Good Luck.....sincerely
