is adding mh lights to florex lights ok
permalink

Ok lord raven,i usually ask no one about advice when it comes to what i do.(im not stupid)But this time im budding out my first plant inside.Usually i just start plants indoors an move them outside when i can tell if they are femals or not. Right now i only have one plant going in a big closet(box). I topped the plant when it was younger so now it has many shoots rizing but 4 main top ones about 14 in long each, the rest are smaller i have used 3 500watt florex tecnology work lights that i got from wall-mart for 28$a pice. I used these lights above the plant (they work great)untill the first hairs of budding, then i got my hands on 2 100watt mh lights so i put them in thinking they had to help.I couldent place the lights above the plant because of lac of room so i put them beside the plant but its sort of under neeth it ,i raised the plant up alittle.Since then the plant seams to be budding well but im worried that with the mh lights (each about 8in away) they are hotter than the florex lights and tend to crisp the leaves alittle but not to bad. What do you think about the mixture of these two lights, and the timing that i put in the 2 100watt mh in at? Is it ok to have the florex lights above an the hp lights beneath it? What should i do ?And what do you think will happen, befor it happends...........thank you man, your friend ..JD[b]

First off theres an old saying that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask... I know, I do and sometimes patience permitting I offer experience. In doing so one continues to learn.

Anyways... Your question is a little difficult to offer an answer to w/o seeing etc. But in general adding the lights should be fine except for the heat issue you need to address. 2x100 watt is not very much but it is close to the plants and the solution could be as simple as a lot more air flow in the cabinet, particularly the space between the lights and plants. Other than that it could go off on tangents that the cab is too small, the plants were vegged to long and too large for the cab, light too close, humidity etc.

wanna know what I think

Well I'll tell ya what I think..
Move the MH bulbs about 10 inches above your plants, and move the florexs to the side, so they can light the underside, and bottom half of the plants. Or vice versa..
Or else put them catty cornered. Not sure without seeing the space which would provide more light to every part of the plants. Provided you have the space to do so in your growing area.

lemme see if i cant show ya

And the other floro stick it in the front or back, id personally alternate between front and back evry few days to keep it even..
