Ok, getting some mixed vibes about using 2 1000 watters compared to 4 400 hps`s. I am going to have 4 to 6 plants in a 12by 6.6 by 8 room. I have read that the 1000`s are a waste because of the small area they protrude. My lights are under 4 foot round reflectors with mylar on all walls and the floor. Also the buckets are silver lined too. I feel using the 400`s under the rectangular reflectors is more constricting. My room is vented and set up safely. I am after BIG BUDS and I think the more light going to more branches will do it. I just cant see why the 400`s would be better. More open space between plants lets more light get to the lower branches. I think I would rather have 6 plants spaced apart than 10 plants all scrunched up together under the 400 rectangular reflectors. Any comments?

Since I will only be using 6 feet of the area for flowering, that means I will have 6,500 lumens per square foot using 2 1000`s. If I use the 4 400`s, i will only get 5,400 lumens per square foot. Gee it doesnt take a brain surgeon to figure that one out. I answered my own question by researching it on this site. A warning to all, do your own calculations before being jumping into some suggestions on this site.

Can probably throw in another 1000 watter next grow for a total of 9,600 lumens per square foot. Heck, I got one laying around now. Going balls to the walls with the 9,600.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | if you go up to 9500 lumens per square feet (although I hate the word lumens) you had better plan on some co2. I personally think that is way over kill. Also 6500 lumens per square foot does you no good if it dont cover every square feet. Not dising your research .. just saying you could have a million lumens yet if i is focused on a 1 square fot area.. the rest of your plants will suffer. Now with all that said I think 2 1000 watters should cover your flower area.. I'd probably still go with the 4 400's or maybe 2 400's and 2 600's (so you dont lose the lumens.) But thats me and dont mean I'm right ![]()
