High...

...and welcome aboard Doc!

That's a mighty small space...not much headroom! You'd have to flower VERY young...and train too! Remember...you'll need a pot large enough so you don't get rootbound, and there's 1/2 your height!

Not to say it CAN'T be done...but you won't yield much! Flouros might get you a plant to flower in a space that small.

I've got some good links in my sig-line...our 'grow guide' is an excellent place to start!

Good luck...and we'll see what some of our other growers think about it.

thank you for your input Pontoon. Ive been silently studying this site for the last three months, getting ready for a summer grow, so ive actually been through almost all of your sigs links . im just trying to get alittle experience under my belt.

I was just about to ask whats the earliest i could flower? and what do you think the smallest pot size i can get away with is? Im trying to get away with the bare minimum, so how many flouros would i need, and how much do you think they will cost? And how much ventilition/circulation will i need with flouros?

thanks so much for your help

you can flower as early as you want, but the sooner you do, the less yield you will have.
pot size, think one gallon for every foot.
i'd say get a three gallon pot, train the hell out of the plant and pray for good results.
if you are only growing one plant you could get three compact fluoros for about $10 a piece plus a lighting fixture or lamps or something.
you need ventilation for your plants, a small fan blowing on the stems should be plenty, if they are inclosed all day i'd rig up some sort of hold in the grow box to allow air exchange. or if you can open the door to it every now and then that should be sufficient.
good luck.

whats the longest that i could keep the box inclosed with out opening up for a bit of ventilation. I mean am i going to have to get up every hour of the night to open the box?

what is the smallest fan i could use for this size of a grow box?

if you have a fan running and a few holes in the box to get air in and out you shouldn't have to worry too much about ventilation. if it is completely enclosed then maybe a few times a day would be fine. you wouldn't need to get up while sleeping to air it out. also, if you are using fluoros and it isn't too hot in the box you could easily have them on 24/0 and then leaving the box open a little for air flow wouldn't hurt.
for one plant, the smallest size fan, i'd say maybe a strong computer fan would work.

thanks alot i really appercaite(sp) all your help....

So would 50-60 dollars been enough for a trip down to the home and garden store for lights?

also what will the flouros look like? the only flouros i know are the big long tubes and i dont think theyll fit in my box. a description would be great.

also turns out when i take everything(drawers) out of the cab theres no bottom, so a little construction and i can add another 5-10 inches to the height.

if you are just getting lights, try walmart or lowes or home depot. if you are set on using fluorescents (as i am) go for the compact fluorescents. they are spiral shaped. they will be in the lightbulb section, ask if you can't find them. or look around on homedepot.com and you will find them. look on the packages for lumens, sometimes a lower wattage may have a higher number of lumens. if you want, i can explain an easy setup that shouldn't take up too much room.
if you can, with your construction, give yourself more room, you could probably fit a small hid (hps) in there. home depot sells a 70 watt setup for about $50.
good luck.
any more questions, shoot them away.
peace.

Yes please do explain this system. Im going to rise the cab another 6 inches so that brings the height 32 inches for more room. Im not sure about the hid, because its more of a practise grow, but sinces its cheap, and its always good to have one more light for a grow later. If its enough room ill go with it.
