I'd go with the compacts, they tend to be towards the higher end efficiency for fluo's. But more importantly they take up much less space than a 4' tube would for example, so its easier to get more lumens per sq foot. Higher wattage you can get the better lumen output/watt.

also look into EVLs, they are nice and compact and have a good size to lumen output. there is also a lights of america compact fluorescent security light, about $25, decent light for your money.

Any links for me lads? I live in ireland and never realised how much more you seem to be able to get everywhere else. all I can find here are standard 20 watt compacts or larger tube floros. I have 2 of the compacts and 2 of the tubes, about 7500 lumens in 3" square area I think I must check. am goin to add more.

So if you's no of anywhere good for em let me no.

i was just searching around and found grow-light.com. they have envirolites as well as lots of other lights. don't know where they're located. edit: oh, they ship to the u.s. only, sorry
