the grow lights cost a lot more than the industrial lights at lowes, for instance. what is the difference between a 400 watt grow system and a 400 watt hps flood light. would i have to buy a ballast separately? please respond quick, i wanna get this light on my fluoro risen babies at least 2 weeks before harvest

One main differnce is that growing systems generally have a remote ballast setup whereas the flood light has the ballast built into it. Will that fllod light at Lowe's work? Absolutely. You may want to get an enhanced spectrum bulb or something, but it will work very well with the standard bulb. I use a Sun Systems 400W HPS w/ a Hortilux bulb. I like the systems designed for growing because they are designed for growing and therefore easy to setup. For around $100, you can get a 400W HPS remote ballast setup with reflector. Not sure how much that one at Lowe's is. But if you can save yourself a couple bucks and have it immediately, I say go for the one at Lowe's.
