Will some one tell me how many lumens a 600W MH puts out. I want to compare it to 500 watt (comparable) fluorex grow light (actually a work light that consumes 65W's and puts out like 7800 lumens; in which I might buy 2 for veg mode and cloning). Thanks ~Fitp

![]() | I have never heard of a 600W MH. Do you mean a 600W HPS? And according to this, a 65W LOA Fluorex only puts out 4450 lumens.

![]() | I got you now. A 400W MH puts out 36,000 - 40,000 initial lumens, depending on the model of the bulb. Why not get a HPS? As for your other question, let's see: 65W Fluorex..... 4450 lumens 400W MH.......... 36,000 - 40,000 lumens 40000/4550 = 8.8 So essentially, one 400W MH can put almost as much light as almost 9 of the 65W fluorex bulbs.

![]() | I am trying to have a situation in which I can have (preferably) 600W HPS operating 12 hours a day, day after day. I also think it would be ideal to have MH (400W at least) that I can have elsewhere that is operating on the 18 hour interval for vegging and clones. I have found that for veg mode MH is far superior to HPS but HPS is essential for flower power. There are switchable systems, but the prob is that your whole garden has to be on the same light interval. From there I started looking at lower wattage ratings with high intensity clean light; considering I will already have a 600 watter going 18/24 seven days a week. Those Fluorex lights claimed they actually gave off like 7800 lumens a piece which is shy of 16000 lumens for 2. So, if your #'s are right, then the 400 MH gives off between 20,400 to 24,400 more lumens than 2 of these fluorex lamps. That's such a differance that I am left looking at buying one 400 MH and one 600 HPS for my ideal set-up. Leaving me drawing 1000W 12 hours a day and 600W for the other six hours, 7 days a week. I sure wish I could find some sort of low wattage rated lamp that can put up these lumen #'s you gave me for the 400W MH. Are you really sure that these #'s are accurate. I guess I can take my lazy ass and look around on the internet, huh? Thanks for the input......... ~Fitp
