![]() | Hi All, Ok i really dont know if this is the right area to post but here it goes. I recently got a solar panel 16" x 30" it puts out a 12v current. Is there any possible way i can use this panel in conjunction with a battery to run a 1500w Halogen light. If possible for a minimum of 12hrs, is what i'm hoping for. The reason the panel came about is cause parents dont want a huge power bill. lol ![]() I know you can get 12v to 240v converters but I'm not sure if that would do the job. Keep on tokin' Keep on smokin' Mr High 007

![]() | To be honest...I dont know that much about solar power....common sense tells me that that one small panel will probably not generate enough power to run your lights. And you need to use a different light than that halogen. It is not good for growing. Gets VERY hot, which means you cant get them close to our plants. Also, for the most part, wrong light spectrum. Go with Fluorescents, or HID lights. Knowledge is Power cy ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nice idea but you woudl need a big battery to run a large light for 12 hours. The panel will charge whatever you hook it up to but it is finding a big enough battery bank to hold the electricity. Also, I don't think it would be a good idea since when the battery starts to run low it you would be like putting your bulb and ballast through brownouts which are not good for them. maybe look at running all the accessories in the room off of it. Pumps, fans and the like .... that seems to be more feasible to me. I just would hate to burn out bulbs and ballasts faster then needed. You could also use it to heat water (home use) and a bunch of other things for in home use to cut you overall power usage. Very environment friendly ![]() Just a thought ![]() LB

![]() | So you recon I should use it to power other things around the house so as to cut the power bill instead of using them to run lights. Yeah that wouldn't be a bad idea. laters Mr High 007

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I realtive used to install those things to heat swimmong pools and the house hot water. That is th emost common thing I can remember them used for but they sure could add "free" power to the rest of the house ..... Here is solar panel link You can also find the missing parts you need here as well ..... Just do a web search on solar panels and all kinds of info pops up at ya ..... But they are definite good investment to cut energy costs in your own home Peace LB

![]() | I am one who has decided to rip the old computer apart and salvage the fans inside. I hooked the solar panel up to 2x12v fans which automatically vent during the day and as it gets cold during the night the lights keep em warm..... I think its working out good. 1 have 4x18w cool white fluros running. If kept say 3" or so should this be a good way to go ?? I tryed the hps and ditched it cause it practically cooked my plant in 5hrs... I'd probably be lookin at starting up 4 more plants in this space.. .Please dont ask how big cause i really dont know.. Not too big yet not too small..Anyway time to get stoned... and talk another day ![]() Mr High 007
