I Have a fairly small bubbler system, and a few soil plants, and i have space for 1 more light. Im looking at a 250w MH and a 400w HPS.....Now regularly i would choose the 400w HPS no question, but i already have a 250w HPS running my plants. Will I better off with the MH or the HPS??? Im already at 42k lumens in a 3x3 grow area. So lumens wont be an issue really.. Or will it?? Any thoughts?? TG

Mixed sprectra works great, not necessary, but without question will produce excellent results. It'll really come down to ventilation. Can you reasonably vent the added 400?. Is cost a factor...initial and maintenance?. The safe play, would be to go with the 250. 500w mixed spectrum, will do quite well. But... 650w HPS, even better.   | ||

| In stabalized scientific grow comparisson's HPS have beaten MH in every aspect of the grow(Ed Rosenthal). Plants just like HPS's better then MH, take the HPS. I have toyed around with MH's then I gave them away and got more HPS's. KP | ||

| Just an update. I bought the 250wMH. I did this for a few reasons: 1: Was much cheaper 2: Saves on electric bill 3: Full light spectrum sounds cool  The only problem was that it didnt come with a reflector. Anyone know any threads or sites that teach you how to make a reflector?? I got a new bulfb ballast and socket for 50 bucks. That was good enough for me. The 400 watter was nice, but that would be roughly and extra 10 to 15 dollars just to run. And i guess you could say im stingey. Thanks for the reply. I really wouldnt know what to do when a mod and an expert disagree. Im glad i jumped the gun. TG
