aquarium water chillers
permalink

Hi,

I've been working on fermentation optimization and as of late I've run into the heat problem/issue/resource from the light. There are light- water cooler devices on the market. They are glass coils that fit over the light. The manufactorer recommends appproximately 50 gallons to cool the light. Thats a lot of water. There are however aquarium chillers available. One unit called "Ice Probe", comes with manufactorer claims that it can drop 10 gallons 7 degrees from ambient air temperatures. Its small and costs 100 bucks. You can use more than one to reduce the amount of water even further.

You might want to look at water chillers/modified air con units to cool the water. Good aquarium chillers are expensive but if you lower your standards and scrounge a bit, you might find what you need.

So, if your box is 40 F over room temp, that is 110F,
25 gal will reduce that by half to 90, the cooling unit will subtract another 3.5 degrees to 85. Water cooling sounds good. Areo/hydro people arent scared by pumps.

Next challenge - use light heat to heat fermentation tank and nute tank. The light cooler doesnt like dirty water. Fermentation water is dirty so that has to be filtered or dealth with somehow.

More later as my mind wanders
