I have a 150w HPS bulb and ballast (my ballast however does not contain a capacitor). My plants are seedlings right now, but I have a lot of space so I might veg them for a little longer than 30 days. MH is better for veg... but is the cost worth what you get? Blue spectrum light increases the chances for a female. But will it actually make my plants grow visibly faster/better?

They seem to be doing just fine under my HPS, but I thought a MH would help it grow faster/better. I think a 150 MH conversion bulb runs somewhere around $40, compared to regular bulbs being about $20.

you could do that or you could go over to hydroasis.com and check out the 160 hps superagro bulb for a 150 hps ballast.

has a mixed spectrum of HPS and MH and is about the same cost of the of the conversion bulb. If I were considering swapping bulbs, this would be my route. Oh not to mention its lumen output is higher then a standard 150 hps which is 16,000 lumens. May be my next bulb as well.

Hmmmm... I might just buy that. But is it really for a 150 watt ballast? All it says is the lumens and life.

You'd think that if the bulb pumped out 5,000 more lumens and puts out light in both spectrums, that everyone would be using it. That's why I'm always afraid to buy something online... you never know if they're telling the truth about it. Although I've never been dissappointed with an order.
