i was sitting at a friends last night watching the sox game he told me his buddy had some live rock for my fish tank so we took a ride got to where we where going and i say the light ... what is these lights they are called vho they are hylid they have a blue spectrum yellow tint. well you know my next question will these work for plants .. if you dont know there are for live rock and corals they are the best you could use for fish tanks .they help promote growth in the tank so are they just as good as hps hylide bulbs they run the same way off a ballast they are rated at 250 watts a peice .. i would appreciate the input was told if they would work could have them with ballst and everything for a 100 dollars but being fairly new to the cultivation im really not that experience as some of yous i figured scotts0420 or hopper or old phart would know please give me some advice thanks .. and i apprecaite all the help everyone here has giving me this year and cant wait to start anthor bach in a couple weeks . | ||

Very High Output (VHO) set-ups provide a much higher output for tube fluorescents. There is also a HO (high output), as well as the standard tube bulb of course. The wattage of the VHO bulbs and fixtures should be listed for comparison by size. A 48" VHO bulb and fixture will out perform a standard 48" fluoro by miles. In some cases, I've found them to be competetive choices to MH for vegging. But the user would need some background in horticultural lighting, to choose their bulbs spectrum correctly. Plants are quite specific in spectral distribution needs. Improper supply of light across certain wavelengths, will adversly affect the grow regardless of output power. ![]() | ||
