![]() | I've recently purchased two Sun System Tek Light T5 Flour. I'm using a mix of 2 W/B and 2 O/R Spectrum Starcoat T5 High-Out. Fluor. Tubes in each fixture. Each tube puts off 5,000 lumes at 54watts. It was a little pricey at $320 per fixture and $20 per tube but it's already making up for it in the electric bill. These fluors. are replacing a 1000watt MH/HPS combo I used for my last harvest. I've got to say that the T5's are giving some of the best results I've seen in a long time. They're low profile, and low heat so I'm able to keep the tops of the plants about a 1/2"-1" from the tubes. I haven't yet moved into flowering with this grow but I'll definately report how the T5's perform. From what I'm seeing so far thou, I don't feel bad about recommending them. mtf_ak Last edited by mtf_ak; 11-22-2005 at 02:17 AM..

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | They are really good lights. Just keep in mind that they do make a Red spectrum and a Blue spectrum, so if you're going to flower on those Tek-5's, you'll need those 8 red blubs as well. Good growing! GT

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | mtf_ak I look forward to seeing how these work out for you. Quote:
http://www.gelighting.com/na/busines..._covrguard.pdf The first 4 have a spike in the green very close to 550nm, so have excellent luminous efficiency, better than most MH, but lumens don't matter to plants. I don't know whether the T5 HO's are more efficient than MH in terms of radiant power, but I kind of doubt it. It would be interesting to compare those numbers. As far as spectrum, the blue spike is good, the red spike is a little to the left of optimum. The one rated for a correlated color temperature of 6500K looks like it's specifically designed for night vision, with the green spike closer to 500nm. ![]() penguin

![]() | Hey, thanks much for the pdf! i've actually been looking for that lol. I'm running 4 865 tubes at 6500k, and 4 830's at 3000k. They've got about another 2 weeks of veg. ahead of them. When they enter flower I'll probably switch them all out to warm 865 tubes, or maybe leave 2 cool tubes in one fixture to balance out the spectrum. When I initially bought these fixtures I didn't intend to run them without my other MH/HPS lights but now I'm curious to see what they'll do on their own. If the flowering isn't as impressive as the veg. under these lamps then I'll probably reintroduce them to 2 250watt HPS's. I'll try to get some pics up pretty soon and show the results they give.
