![]() | I have just purchased two 42 watt compact Fluorex lights, to get my plants started. What kind of lamp socket can I use to rig up my lights with? I got the lights at Home Depot, on the box it says 6500K, but on Lights of America web site it says that the bulbs are 2700K. I e-mailed Lights of America about it, but with no response. Are these bulbs 6500K, or not?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi myster Welcome to HC! I'd go by what's on the box. The website indicates that both model 9265 and 9266 are 65w 6500K 4550lm lamps, I'd bet that one of those is a typo on the website. Correlated color temperature ratings don't actually provide any information about the spectral output of the lamp though. ![]() penguin

![]() | Thanks for that info Penguin. I went back to Home Depot today and asked them about a socket for the 42-watt cfl bulb I got from them. I told them I could not get them to work. I asked them about a socket for the bulb because I thought the bulb might not making contact with the socket, I was trying to put it in. I might as well been talking to a retard, so I went over to Lowes and get a socket that wasn't as deep in order to make contact. I wired the cord to it screwed in the light plugged it in and nothing. I wish somebody on here could tell me how to make them work.

![]() | That's good you got 42w because they are nice & bright.a pair of them will grow the dickens out of a plant. I've got 6 42w on 4 plants and they are growing great. Generosity with the light repaid in Big Growth. Mixing bulb types can be beneficial, plants outside are getting the full-spectrum. Good Luck on the Grow Show. ---dave zap. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My lights of america fluorex bulbs require a mogul socket and a ballast. You can buy the whole fixture, bulb and all, for $25 at Costco (at least you could up until last year - I moved and there's no costco around these parts). Home depot sells them too but for much more $. I mod'ed mine so that I could pack the bulbs closer together. There are pics in my old journals. Hope this helps
