![]() | I think its a good idea to get some better lighting now that my girl is into 2nd week of flowering. I was using those curly lights, two of them each 100w, but everybody told me they are only good enough for veg. This is what I would like to spend, possibly abit more. And some prices at the local store I can buy them. WATT NAME Type PRICE 430 W SUNAGRO HI PRESSURE SODIUM $55.00 600 W PHILIPS HI PRESSURE SODIUM $79.00 400 W PHILLIPS METAL HALIDE $39.99 With; ballast box, Mogul socket, 15' foot 14/2 lamp wire, 6' foot grounded plug wire, marettes I can get the 400w metal halide one for just under $200. I only have one plant on the go right now, the most I ever grew was 4 at once. Its all just personal so id like to get a light just enough for that. Does that price and light seem good enough?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | what is the size of your grow area? Will will also need to consider ventilation using exhaust fan if your grow area is enclosed. These light will generate much more heat. The 430w hps would be suitable for up to a 4'x4' area IMO.

If you have to go with 1- high intensity light if it was me I would go foe the HPS. HPS is better for flowering. There are people who use MH for flowering but I believe the majority use HPS for flowering. Many use MH for Veg and HPS for flowering. Like Toke said there will be a whole lot more heat (heat is the enemy). There are formulas for square footage and the amount of light used to let you know how much wind you need. The are has to change so many times per minute or it gets to hot. Another thing I'd go a little higher than the chart says. It sounds like you should do a bit more research on light and air flow. Theres no way it could hurt you. Read the Grow Guide. If I'm not mistaken it talks about CFM's (cubic feet per minute) in there. (at least it used to) Good luck and welcome to the site.

![]() | I am stealth growing my plant right now because I don't have enough light, but the front stays open with a medium sized house fan running. Its a well vented room with the window cracked open. I have seen the size of these lights and can run them im positive without heat stress. I was running a HPS light in the same area before. I also have a closet area I can move too if needed. Space isn't an issue.
