What Is Your HID and CFL Missing?
permalink

More specifically...what is it that the plants are missing that HID and CFLs do not provide?

UVs.

UVAs are beneficial to over all MJ health.

UVBs are high octane light waves for trichrome production. Its a thing for peaking maximum production...not some sort of freakish growth.

Tip...UV blocking eye wear is a big plus around these lamps. My naked eye notices when its getting a shot of UVs.

Tip2...they're a thing a flying insect can't resist. Nor can they resist the slow cook death that takes place sans pesticides.

R these expensive?
Where did you find them? I suspect pet store.
Any grow comparison? I've read a couple of gj's that claim increase in bud size from the UV. Interesting for sure.

Hey dang.

Not pricey at all, totally affordable. Prices mostly vary on wattage of course, and on how much UVB the lamp emits. Expect a $10-25 price.

All the world is a search engine ya know.

They look pretty small though. Maybe use them to supplement a bigger light or use during flowering?

T-...

The UV bulb in in the grow to supplement the HID and or CFLs. I flip them on soon into veg...soon as I know the plants are sucking in light and nutes.

Some people vary the time they're on. I stick with, as long as its daylight, the surface of the earth is getting hit with UV. So I simply maintain emulating that and have the UV lamps on the same circuit as other lamps.

A UV light need not be bright to the eye or photo cells to be intense down in it's end of the spectrum.

In what amounts, at what wavelength, at what amplitude etc etc makes all the difference!
