Yes I'm sure you could. But I don't think they would be as potent as if it were cured, but still get you very high in the cannabutter .It stinks you have to rush through your first harvest. No matter what happens with my harvest I'm gonna turn it into as much fun as possible. I'm gonna abstain from smoking from the day I pull the plant until after its all cured. Then I get to indulge in the death of my good friend of 3 months. . Hopefully I will come out of this funeral with a giant smile on my face lol. anyways, good luck trev the flouro guru. I hope you get toasted

I believe curing doesn't increase potency. It only improves the flavor and smoothness of the smoke.

so basically when the plant is picked it is at it's peak potency and you only dry it and cure it for the purposes of smoking? so that if i cooked with it i would get just as much thc out as if i were to dry it then cook with it?
thanks.

That is my understanding. About the potency that is.

I have no experience with the cooking thing so I don't know if it is easier to get the thc out of fresh bud or dried, or if it makes any difference at all.

The brownie thing wouldn't make a difference, but I don't know about making cannibutter. Probly doesn't make a difference for that either, I should think.

Although, everywhere I have read about making hash oil they recommend dried material for the process. It is a different process for sure but maybe the same thing goes for cannibutter. I just don't know.

thanks again.
i figure the whole brownie, melting the marijuana in the butter thing shouldn't matter if it is wet or dry since all you are doing is extracting. although i may get other chemicals or something if it isn't dry.
hopefully someone who has done this before will find my thread here.
take it easy.
peace.

...the plant needs to go thru that cure process because doing that activates the psychoactive component of thc. It does this by losing a CO2 molecule and this process is called decarboxylization. It is important to cure your crop in airtight containers like glass canning jars or tupperware containers. You have to air these buds out daily to release the moisture that has built up inside the container. This prevents bud mold from setting in, also.

Here is a quote from Ed Rosenthal, the Ganja Guru

21.4 Curing

Curing is a process employed to naturally enhance the bouquet, flavour, and texture of marijuana. Curing does not lower potency when done correctly, although poor curing methods often result in some less of THC.

Curing is not an essential procedure, and many growers prefer the "natural" flavour of uncured grass. Sweet sinsemilla buds usually are not cured.

Curing is most successful on plants which have "ripened" and are beginning to lose chlorophyll. It is less successful on growing tips and other vigorous parts which are immature. These parts may only lose some chlorophyll.

Curing proceeds while the leaf is still alive, for until it dries, many of the leaf's life processes continue. Since the leaf's ability to produce sugars is thwarted, it breaks down stored starch to simple sugars, which are used for food. This gives the grass a sweet or earthy aroma and taste. At the same time, many of the complex proteins and pigments, such as chlorophyll, are broken down in enzymatic processes. This changes the colour of the leaf from green to various shades of yellow, brown, tan, or red, depending primarily on the variety, but also on growing environment and cure technique. The destruction of chlorophyll eliminates the minty taste that is commonly associated with green homegrown.
